March 14th : The payback

The two chicago shows were fantastic. we got see lots of friends and drink lots of beers. the people at the metro are hands-down some of the most professional and friendly people in the business, and we always feel really welcome there. thanks to all of thse fine ladies and gentlemen for helping us have two great shows.

The two days in detroit were lots of fun and full of rowdy characters. Lots of folks got thrown out both nights, mainly for beer throwing. In fact, during the rev. horton heat's first song on the first night, a beer bottle flew over the crowd and hit jimbo's bass. if you ever find yourself in that situation, follow these sage words from the rev: "The first thing you learn in kindergarten is not to throw shit. the first thing you learn in college is not to waste beer."

Truer word indeed.

We had two days off after that, and we spent them in detroit with adam's (our singer/guitarist) family. we had some great meals and laughed a lot. we went and saw our buddy william elliott whitmore play on our first night off, and then we went to the casino and didn't win anything. last night we saw "300." the visuals were amazing, even if i didn't quite like it as much as "sin city."

Quoth our tour manager will after the movie:

"Never has the fight against mysticism and tyranny featured such tasty abs and awesome boobs."

See the movie, and i'm sure you'll agree.

Grand rapids tonight. High probability of post-show karaoke. There will be no survivors.

March 6th

Today is our first day off on the tour with The Reverend Horton Heat and The Tossers. We have been having a blast so far. Everyone on the tour is totally sweet and the shows have been awesome. The first night on tour was in Springfield, MO, and it just so happened to be our tour manager Will's birthday. Some partying ensued. Night three happened to be my birthday, and the fine folks of Lawrence, KS showed us quite a time. Last night we had the pleasure of palying First Avenue in Minneapolis. As a band we have watched Purple Rain several million times, so it was a pretty big deal to finally play there. The crowd was amazing and the staff was top notch.

We spent the majority of today in the van, but we had some adventures along the way. We bought a new tire for the trailer and got stuck in a blizzard for a few hours. The payoff is that I am writing this from Great Wolf Lodge in the Wisconsin Dells. What is the Great Wolf Lodge, you ask? What if i told you it was a hotel that has an indoor waterpark? Yep. We rode bitchin' waterslides tonight, even though it is snowing like crazy outside. We win.

Madison tomorrow. Two days in Chicago after that. Shenanigans will ensue.

More details as they become available.
