    Default My new HAMER!!

My new HAMER MONACO ELITE from ebay.

It's from the HamerCustomShop--it's got CUSTOM(bridge)& CUSTOMCUSTOM(neck)--We'll see how it sounds, I SHOULD get it friday...

It's got a custom color "amberburst" & custom "chambered body"--this thing looks really nice.

    --WOW, good job mr.butnut!!!

I cant wait to get that badboy----we'll see how it sounds, I've never considered a Seymour CustomCustom for the Neck, we'll see!
It sure has a killer maple top. It was kinda pricey BUT I think it'll be worth it.

It sure has a killer maple top. It was kinda pricey($1500.00) BUT I think it'll be worth it. I've owned a few GibsonLesPauls(I wasn't that impressed), so I sold 'em--I've had a few USA Jacksons, enjoyed 'em & sold 'em(still got one)--I've had CARVINS, still got one--
I really like the "lespaul" shape, I was gonna choose between a GUILD BLUESBIRD(I got outbid on a couple of em) & a USA HAMER MonacoElite, as fate would have it, I got the Hamer----We'll see when I get it!!

The CHAMBERED BODY(customshop only option) should be really cool---AND the AMBERBURST color(customshop only option) is my favorite "Hamer" color, The AAA FLAME Maple top looks really good.
I really like the BINDING that runs OVER the ENDS of the FRETS(Just like a GibsonLesPaul) that takes alot of time to do---I ALSO like the 14 coats of hand rubbed lacquer----I think I'll put CHROME KNOBS on the Volume(x2)&Tone---the only thing lacking is locking tuners & I'd prefer an ebony fretboard, but rosewood is cool.

If you watch the HAMER DVD they make of their facility, those USA guitars are very labor intensive & the wood they chose & their building technique is the best I've even thought of or have heard of, just incredible...the price of their guitars(usa) reflects that--So, I could only afford a used one!!

That is a beauty. You really can't beat Hamer for quality, tone, etc.

are you sure its a custom custom neck? the ones that i played (matt smiths comes to mind) had a custom in the neck and a cc in the bridge. with the custom down low in the neck and the cc set fairly close they matched pretty well. the custom in the neck gave such a fat, sweet, singing lead tone

Hamer USA, by FAR, has the best looking maple tops out there. The cross grain on them is always incredible, and they always look very natural..grain lines undyed..unlike a PRS or some of the Dean USA stuff like my ML.

    Congrats

and yeah, I believe its a CC bridge and SH5 in the neck on those. You're gonna be amazed at the quality.

Thumbs up Re: My new HAMER!!

WOW!! Hamer Day on the Duncan board!!!

Congrats!! I doubt you will be sad about any part of that guitar. I love my Deans but I REALLY love my Hamers!!! Enjoy.

BTW, that lil lip thang on the joint you wont notice it at all. At least I didn't on the two I played but I'm no whiz on guitar so it wasn't in my way.
Aint no pro but I know what I like....

-Well, I just assumed the CUSTOM would be in the Bridge position, that's how I would of done it cause it's hotter than the CUSTOMCUSTOM---BUT if HAMER has the CUSTOM in the Neck & CC in the Bridge, they MUST sound better like that or Hamer wouldn't have done it---We'll see, I'm very excited cant wait to get it! It's my first Hamer...

yeah but tonally a cc in the neck would be prone to mush, thats ALOT of mids and not much high end with a soft bottom. the focus and punch of the custom works pretty well in the neck. its a huge tone even with the custom set just below the ring. i still think its kinda a weird combo and not very traditional since for such a classic classy looking guitar its got a flame thrower for a neck pup, a seth set seems like it matches the vibe of the guitar more, but the tones will definitly make your ears perk up.

if you play slide, you will love the neck tone with a bottle

GORGEOUS guitar. Great deal, too. You'd spend $2k+ to get anything that nice from any other company. Hamer USA is tops.

FWIW - I owned a Hamer Monaco Elite Mahogany for a short time - great guitar, wish I still had it - and it had the same neck joint. I can confidently say that if the insides of your fingers are making contact with that part of the neck while playing in that position, you've got bigger problems.

I was talking to a dealer and he said that the Hamer rep told him that that Hamer had stopped taking orders because they were too backed up with work???? He swears that this is true, so you probably did the smart thing to buy a used one.
