Default Any opinions on the breed pups?

I was wondering how the breed bridge compares to a TZ or air zone?
I would like to find a dimarzio that is right in the middle tonally of a tone zone and a norton and the breed seems to look like it would fit that bill on paper?
also the neck breed is said to be a fatter hotter paf pro?
anyone here have any experience with these breeds?

I've used the Breed bridge, great pickup, very fat and warm with tighter lows than the TZ but still has great harmonics. The TZ can get very muddy in alot of guitars, IMHO. The best way I can describe the Breed bridge is that it can scream, but it does so in a very polite manner. Make sense? It's a very fun and forgiving pickup to play, I really liked it.

    sounds real good so far.
I liked the AZ and TZ but both of those had this quality about em i did not care for? maybe the dual resonance thing? the highs were very unpleasent
I need a screaming but smooth lead pup with the fattness for ryhthms and harmonics but without the TZ's weird qualities?
I know the breed is not dual resonance but has two matched coils
and i also heard it is a fatter JB sound?

    when you say:
"I need a screaming but smooth lead pup with the fattness for ryhthms and harmonics but without the TZ's weird qualities?"

    you just described the Breed.

I am using a breed bridge in an ibanez S540 and it does exactly what you described -- smooth but can be screaming... fat with nice harmonics.
By the way, i actually think it's made with mismatched coils and that's how it gets those broad mids, instead of "spikey" mids.

no, it has matched coils, that's for sure. if you look the specs on the dimarzio website, you will see in the end: "Patent Numbers: N/A". It means that it doesn't use dual resonance technology (patent 4501185).

Used the Breed (both bridge and neck) in a lot of different guitars, and it always turned out with a nice result.
In my opinion, the Breed is a bit of an underrated pickup, and does not realy gets the attention it deserves compared to other models.
I recently replaced the stock pickups with a Breed set on a PRS SE Standard, with very good result. And that is a guitar that few people would go for a Breed...
    Defenately worth trying.

I have used The Breed , Tone Zone, Air Zone, Air Norton and Norton. In all maple older Carvins or a bolt on in Alder or Swamp Ash I LOVE the Tone Zones but they can get pretty dark and mushy in something like mahogany. I think you are right on target with the Breed bridge or a Norton. My favorite Dimarzio neck bucker right now is the Air Classic. They are louder than you would think and match well in output with the Zones or a Norton but again they get pretty fat in anything other than Maple ash or alder.
