Default OMG Straight Outta Compton REMIX

Umm, whether or not you like the original by NWA

It's interesting...in a similar spirit to Ben Folds covering Dr. Dre. I really don't know what I think of it.

Fair warning: Contains coarse language common to "gangster-rap" hip hop.

The thread title was pretty much my initial reaction....but it's kind of beautiful in its own strange way.

Wiki says South Central (LA) which, to the best of my knowledge, has never been one of the greatest places on the face of the earth. So far as where specifically in South Central he grew up, I don't know. I'm not at all familiar with LA's geography to really have a handle on the "good" and "bad" neighborhoods. So to answer your question more directly...I don't know, but I don't think so.

You might be thinking of Kanye West...if I recall, he WAS born/raised in the suburbs.

    Edit:
Yeah, Wiki mentions Kanye being upper-middle class. His mother was a PhD at Chair of the English Department at Chicago State. Kanye went to the American Academy of Art and later Columbia before pursuing music (thus the debut album "The College Dropout"). A mom with a job like that doesn't typically signify raising kids in a bad neighborhood. But Kanye never really raps about growing up in the hood the way other rappers (who did live in the ghettos) do.

you're probably right, I'm not sure who it was. I don't think any part of compton even the outskirts can be called the "burbs"

Here's a link to a pic of her and the MP3 audio of the same song. Better for dialup folks and those who have issues using Youtube (like me at work)

She used to be in Veruca Salt.

Great cover version--I've had that on my iPod for a while. Nina Gordon also does "Nobody's Fool" by Cinderella; I think these and a couple others are available for download from her website.
