Default Help Choose my Next Pickups

Thanks for checking out my wish list, I really appreciate it guys.

First up is to upgrade a couple of humbuckers in an old Aria Pro II, it's Les Paul styled with a chambered body and has a coil tap switch on it. I am a bit of a vain fool, so I only want pickups that come with metal/gold tops like a LP covering. So what I want out of the clean is:

    1. Ability to go bell like, classy cleans, fenderish as a single coil, take advantage of the acoustic sounding chambers. I want good high frequency response, but some beef too. Something nice clean, and a tad acoustic sounding. I have a sh2 Jazz pickup, it's pretty sweet, but a bit too midrangy for me. Any suggestions? not to mention other brands, but I have a Humbucker from Hell from Dimarzio and I love it, but might want to try something new.

    2. For the bridge I like to have a PAF + more sound. I do play very hard rock, and instrumental rock, so I really want something high gain, but has balls and isn't too crunchy but more growly? Like a PAF on steroids. A lot of midrange and harmonic content. I do pinch squeals, and I just like hearing harmonics. I have a Duncan Distortion, it rocks. I also have an Evolution and it's ok. I prefer the Duncan distortion sound, and I have an EMG 81 which is just ok for me. I want something with more feel than an EMG81, less bite than a Duncan Distortion.

Really I just want another great bridge pickup to play with. I'm a tad worried that Pearly Gates or a Screamin Demon won't have enough output. But I like what I here., Any suggestions?

I like classic rock, and I like a classic warm sound, but with an extra bite and growl, turn it up and shred occasionally so I do need a farily hot pickup. So let me know what you guys like and why!!!! thanks!

    Thanks again guys!!!

If you find the jazz too midrangey, you're going to have a tough time finding a neck pickup. Perhaps the 59 might work, with its extended lows, it might seem like it has less mids than it really does and it is pretty glassy.

The bridge is easy, get a C5.
    Ain't nothin' but a G thang, baby.

For the neck pickup I like the 59 but it really isnt bright sounding. For the bridge however definitely try a screamin demon, I recently put one in my explorer and really like it. It has plenty of gain for hard rock and metal stuff and handles any drop tunings you throw at it (if thats your thing). I thought it might be too bright but it wasnt at all.

The SD website describes the SH-5 as "PAF on steroids".
You can run over a Tele with a pickup truck, pick it up - and it'll still play out of tune

What's a C5? Is that the same as an sh5? a duncan custom?

I have a lil 59 and I am not a big fan. It doesn't have enough highs.
