Opinion on Schecter guitars

What are peoples opinion on schecter guitars (if i spelled that right)

Or what is a nice guitar for shredding, cause im looking to trade in my Jackson rr3 randy rhoads flying v for something less mean looking and with tons of more bite and spank, and holds up good with a whammy bar ha

never owned one, but have played several over the years. they're ok, but i think the necks are too thick, bodies too heavy, and strings too tight. plus, the more affordable models are basswood which is not my choice of woods. i also don't like the headstocks (probably why i never bought a dean either). but they seem like good guitars for someone else. i just don't feel right when i pick one up.

I got a fabulous deal on a C1 artist model and love it! The build quality is fantastic on these. The fretwork and playability is, IMO, WAY above its price point and much better than many guitars Ive played at several times the price. The components are top shelf: Grover keys, Tonepros bridge, Duncan JB and 59. All in all, hard to beat. The only question is, whether or not its right for you. Apparently it wasnt right for Shogunlegend. And yeah, the neck will be diff then a Jackson. And if you can play several to see what one speaks to you, then do. But I think they are very good.

I own a Shecter Tempest Special. It is basically a low end Les Paul Special. I got it for very little money and put a set of Antiquity P90's in it. It has good quality tuning machines and a Tone pro bridge. IMHO they are very nice guitars for the money. I'm not a shredder so I can't comment on how well they work for that, but I am very happy with my Tempest. Its a good guitar..... not my #1 but still a good guitar!

Thanks for the input, i've have also played one or 2 here or there but it was at guitar center and wasnt set up the way it shoud've been and everything was whack so i wasnt sure, thanks guys!

yeah, keep that in mind. Any guitar you play at guitar center will be better once you spend some time to tune and adjust it.

they hate to see me come in there cuz as soon as I get something off the wall Im asking them for a tuner..

I own three of them and love them all. I personally think they're the best bang for the buck out there in the guitar world nowadays.

I've loved every single one of the five I've had! I sold an RR-1 for a C-1 Classic and would do it again without hesitation. Amazing guitars.

The higher end ones are very nice, The custom Shops Rule, the middle class ones are a pleasure to play, and the low end ones are a pain in the ass. if you have some money i would go for a C1 Exotic or something

Hmm, it was about 700 to 900 dollars, it was a hardtail, 2 hum, very nice wood. A real looker. I almost saved up to buy it but i couldn't warrant another guitar. The C1 body shape is really nice and they have good sustain, The lack of trem is a bonus to me, but i could see where some people would want it. The Omen 6 is also an ok guitar if you don't have much money. I probably know more about schecters than any other guitar, the shop i like best has a ton of them and i play them alot.

For imported guitars they are great in my opinion. They look alot more expensive than they really are.

Hmm, I think it is almost identical, i played them both at the same time, i think it was a classic, it looked like one. and it was nice, i was playing through a Groove Tubes single amp and getting some good tones.

Funny, it seems that the Exoctic I played isnt made anymore, the one i played was natural grain, the new models are pretty much the same, but in color, they look pretty cool. The only thing you cant see in the pictures is that the the back is a different wood that the top, that is my favorite part.

sometimes, just to change the look, i wish i could switch the backwood with the maple top. the back also looks very cool.

Yeah, i played it again today, through a marshall JVM it rocked, the pups are a little shrill though, just a tad.

And yes, The tempest has a thicker neck, i found it to be much less Comfortable for my hands but it sounded good. Great quality, sturdy feel.

I've asked a number of times, but so far without result: Would someone with a reasonably recent Schecter look in the control cavity and see if it says "COR-TEK" on the backs of the (unswitched) pots?

I've been repeatedly asked who actually manufactures the Korean Schecters, and though it would almost certainly be Cor-Tek since Samick stopped Korean production several years ago, it would be nice to have conclusive evidence of this.

I tried out the C-1 Classic in store. I loved it, and almost wish I had bought that rather than the Showmaster I bought.
