    Default pimp my strat

    hi,
i was just wondering if anyone could recommend me how to pimp my strat. i mean it sounds great and everything, but i just want to change its apperance.
it's a black strat with a rosewood fingerboard and a white pickguard. i'm not into spending too much money mainly because i don't have that much (refinishing by a pro is over my budget), so a "simple" solution would be great. if you have an idea or maybe some pictures that would be great. thanks

p.s. how is it with refinishing it by myself... i saw that robert cray model in violet or something ...wow

www.reranch.com ofr refinishing. (Are you sure you want to do that? Ebay always has a plethora of Strat bodies available, you can bolt your neck and electronics into the new body)

www.warmoth.com for custom pickguards (and much more)

A white pearl pickguard and chrome tele knobs really dress up a black strat IMO.

    BLACK MOTO PICKGUARD!!!!

This is the most beautiful pickguard you can put on a black Strat IMO. There's pics of my Strat (which has this) in my profile and on my photobucket (check the Strat Porn thread!).

    www.guitarfetish.com

    I think these are nice:

    http://store.guitarfetish.com/blssspiforst.html

I would stay away from the "pearloid" pickguards though, I think they look ugly...but that is just my opinion so dont take it the wrong way.

Get some black knobs too: I like these the absolute best heh.....

If one of these fitted my guitar, I would get one lol

    maybe one of these, perhaps:

    Heres the finished product:

anyway, my strat is the exact same color as yours (black body, rosewood fretbaord, white pickguard) and I dont like the color a lot. When I upgrade it, I will probably go for the stuff I listed above.

btw, heres the place I made the model of your guitar:

you can fool around with different looks, combinations, etc...

new pickguard, new knobs, new switch tip, new pickup covers. these are just plastic parts so you can get 'em pretty cheap, but they greatly change the appearance of your guitar. Definitely one of my favorite things about strats is how easy they are to mod! So check out all the difference options available to new pickguard colors 'n what not!

edit: just take a look at the guitar in my signature. It started out w/ a white pickguard and 3 white single coils, a few mods later is looks like it does in the sagnature picture. I paid $25 for the pickguard and pearoid back cover.

I think a black strat with white electronics and a black pickguard with a Maple neck is really sexy, like david gilmour used.

I say you get it all slutty looking, slap it around a bit, put it out at night to work the streets, then take an unfair portion of the profits.

Locking tuners, a better nut and bridge saddles, keep the white pickguard but use black on the knobs/pup covers/etc...

Then some straplocks, better pups, like a BKP Slow Hand/Black Dog HSS set, and upgrade the rest of the electronics too.

In my completely unbiased opinion, I think it would look great with a read pearloid pickguard, black knobs, HR/CR/HR pups, push/pull pots that tap the coils on the pups...
