    Exclamation Livewire installtion problem

    I just installed 3 livewire pickups (H-S-S) in my Jackson SL-1 (1 vol, 1 tone). I have 3 questions:

    1. The hiss noise of neck and middle single coils lirewire is very high, and the noise become almost not acceptable when turn on the OD/DS effect. How can I reduce the nosie?

    2. The Metal livewire (bridge) pickup is so powerful and high output, so there is a big volume gap between I switch to the middle or neck pickups from the bridge. Is it normal? Should I install the 100K ohm resistor? (The schematics just said it's "optional", please tell me "yes" or "no", thanks!)

    3. What is the capacitor value? It's 0.047u or 0.1u? And what's the difference?

    Thanks!!

This tells me that something is wrong with the neck/middle connection. These are hum-cancelling pickups, so, you'ld get this kind of noise if there's a bad connection and you turn the gain up high to compensate. Double-check the neck/middle connections. Look for bad solder connections and flakey grounds.

    Go from there. Report back.

I have checked all the connection are all correct. There is one problem that makes me confused.

In the pickup wiring diagram, the capacitor connect to the left pin of the tone 100K adjustable resistor and the middle pin connect to the 1st pin of the 5 way switch (this is also the connection method of the Jackson SL-1 original). BUT, in the SD web wiring diagram, the capacitor connect to the middle pin of the tone, and the left pin connect to the volume right pin and the first pin of the 5 way switch. Which method is correct?

And which capacitor (0.047u or 0.1u) I should install? This is also a different setting between web and product information.

The LiveWire Metal is going to be a lot louder than the others. Try adjusting the pickup heights before you install the resistor. With their low magnet strength Live Wires can get much closer to the strings without causing adverse effects.

Still, like Artie said, it sounds like there's a wiring problem. You mentioned the two differing wiring schemes. Try the one you didn't use and see if that works better. They should install pretty much like any other pickups with the exception of the cables for the power supply.

The different capacitor values are up to you. They'll change how highs are rolled off with the tone knob. I honestly don't remember what value I used with mine.
It's hard to be metal in girl pants.
