Default Ibanez vs Maxon Pedals (Vintage)

I own several Ibanez 9 series pedals, some with the fabled JRC4558D chip. I've been told that the Maxon pedals sound "better" due to the fact that they used "higher quality" components, possibly located in the output section of the pedal.

As i understand, Maxon manufactured all of the Ibanez branded pedals in the 80s, and my assumption there is that its the same pedal, just with an Ibanez logo on it. I mean it still says MAXON on the circuit board.

Which is correct? Are the Ibanez branded pedals of lower quaility? sound or otherwise?

The original Ibanez pedals were rebranded Maxons. I opened up my TS-9 reissue and it has a Maxon circuit board.

The components used on the reissued TS-9's are different than the original Maxons- there's a different chip, and 2 of the output resistors are different. All can be modded to original Maxon specs.

The Maxon reissue tube screamers are all based on original spec with the original chip and resistors. The Ibanez TS-808 is supposed to be the same as the original Maxon, with the original chip and resistors, but I haven't opened one up to veryify it.

Regardless, all of these pedals are easily modded to replace the parts with higher quality components.

I think the old tubescreamer are the same as maxons but the new reissue arent made by them so they arent as good.
