The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress is one of my favorite Heinlein novels.

Recently finished The Kite Runner, a book about growing up in Afganistan during the 70s then immigrating to the U.S. A fairly good read including some strong father/son conflict stuff, but "the Taliban isn't really Muslim" subtext aggravated me.

I'm part way through The Mayflower. Guess what it's about? New book, really well written with a good balance between social history and dead-white-guy stories (a.k.a. traditional history).

I don't have much time to read outside of what I've been assigned this summer, but still, I can't get to sleep unless my nose is in a book. At bedside is a book on passive electronic components and basic electronics theory, and a book of dirty German slang.

Just finished Children of Hurin, and I do have to say it's worth the read for any Tolkien fan.

I'll probably read The Problem of Pain or The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis next.

Rereading "Crime and Punishment", going to start on "The Idiot" soon. I'm on a Dostojevski spree.

I just picked up The Laws of Simplicity by John Maeda. A few nights ago I read through the introduction and began the first chapter (law) and decided it's a book I need to read in a single sitting (it's not real large... he kept it simple), so I need to devote a few hours to it some weekend.

I'm in the middle of Fender Amps: The First Fifty Years that Luke and his wife got me for my birthday (Thanks, Luke!). Those guys know their stuff and have a lot of technical information, but they still keep it interesting.

After I finish that (probably this week) I literally have a stack of books waiting to be read. This one was actually a good way down the stack, but I figured I'd shuffle it to the top since it was a gift. I think a Benjamin Franklin book is next on the stack.

I'm trying to read far too many books at the moment.

    Slaughterhoue 5 - Kurt Vonnegut
Kingdom of Fear - Hunter S. Thompson
    Generation X - Douglas Coupland

Will They Ever Trust Us Again? - Michael Moore
    Media Control - Noam Chomsky
The War on Truth - Neil Mackay
The Medium is the Massage - Marshall McLuhan

The last four are for a university project, but i'm very much enjoying them irrespective of that.

Gosh you'll need some therapy after that lot...maybe some balancing opinions might suffice.

The Long, Dark Teatime of the Soul by Douglas Adams. He is the only author I can stand to read.

I saw a really interesting book at the store but I haven't got the time to read it at the moment.

Illicit, by Moses Naim - sub-titled "How Smugglers, Traffickers and Copycats are Hijacking the Global Economy"

    http://www.amazon.com/Illicit-Smuggl.../dp/0385513925

    Looks interesting...

New Guitar Player!!! As well as The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz by Mordechai Richler.

Reading (on and off when I have the time to get lost in it) U2 By U2.

Going to do my annual tradition of reading Marx's and Engel's Communist Manifesto (which some parts I think are good and others I think they're idiots for suggesting certain things, but I love Marx's writings).

Also going to soon start reading Catch 22 by Joseph Heller.

Oh, I also forgot to mention, I'm going to start reading The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins this weekend. Summer line up will definately include Noam Chomsky, The War On Truth, Fast Food Nation (not that i need to as a former Wendy's employee) and probably The Best Democracy Money Can Buy.

I get weak in the knees at the sight of a vintage Fender amp!

Hope you like it. Coupland seems to be a love or hate type of author ... I've never met anyone who is on the fence about his work.

I read Microserfs in the winter, and am just starting JPod.
