Global censorship of the Net growing

Thought this was pretty interesting...

The level of state-led censorship of the net is growing around the world, a study of so-called internet filtering by the Open Net Initiative suggests.

The study of thousands of websites across 120 Internet Service Providers found 25 of 41 countries surveyed showed evidence of content filtering.


Websites and services such as Skype and Google Maps were blocked, it said.
Such "state-mandated net filtering" was only being carried out in "a couple" of states in 2002, one researcher said.


"In five years we have gone from a couple of states doing state-mandated net filtering to 25," said John Palfrey, at Harvard Law School.

What's it on?

Well at the moment my title is pretty vague, and just seems to be getting moreso. But Its basically a study into different mediums of communication and how they affect us, socially, ethically, politically and on a personal level. So i'm investigationg censorship, bias, media control and the like. I need to make it more concise than it is, but that's easier said than done, in a subject that interest me this much. I just want to find out about and write everything I can, but that doesn't make for a great project.

Hmmmm....

We use Skype in our home when playing Lord Of The Rings Online. It's nice when you're on a large quest with a lot of people to be able to actually talk to them instead of just type.
