It would have been a good post if he aimed it at anyone properly. I would have even laughed if it was aimed at me, in a proper setting. But the problem is that I did completely understand his 'joke,' and I found both that post funny and his point funny. But I didn't understand why he quoted Firebird specifically, and still don't. So I understood his main point, just didn't understand his supporting quote.

Also, if someone gets that bent out of shape by someone else aking a question, then they have bigger problems. I'm sure it didn't affect his sleep that I 'ruined his joke' but it's more than slightly odd for an adult to get bent out of shape over something so minimal. You can ask me about my mother's sex life and call her a whore and I wouldn't care, because I don't know you from Adam. The fact that we don't know eachother, at all, makes it impersonal to me. If my best friend does that, he's getting an ass whooping.

So I just don't understand the mentality that some of you guys have, at all. This is why I love Jolly and Aceman and others so much, they don't give two shucks what you think about them because they don't know you. That's the way I live my life. I'd prefer people like me for who I am, but I don't get bent out of shape over anything on these forums, or anywhere else for that matter. It's inconceivable to me that people get so grumpy over nothing.

That said, I don't ever step on people's toes intentionally, and I'm very quick to apologize if I actually do.

The reason why that post was funny was not because he took a shot at you, but because of his writing style.. it's very 'Skarey', yanno?

Oh no I completely agree. I admitted it too, it was a good post. But the basis was off, and I don't even think he took a 'shot' at me, he just misunderstood me. But it would have been a great post (aimed at anyone, including me) if his basis was right. As is though, definitely not post of the year.

It's possible that autism is over-diagnosed, just like ADHD was (and like ritalin was over-prescribed for it), but I'm no psychologist. I'm just pointing out that it's possible that it's over-diagnosed. Sometimes I think (but I'm not sure) that it's possible parents want a scapegoat for their lack of attention to their children.

I tend to agree. As a Psychologist who has worked in the Autism spectrum area for many years, what I see happening is that since Asperger's Syndrome and PDD-NOS have become more well known, the entire spectrum is being lumped in as "Autistic". While they are all part of the same spectrum, it artificially inflates the numbers for classical Autism. On the positive side, it has had the effect of increasing services to these individuals and their families.
