Default Guitar Cosmetics: head stock/neck/body colors.

I've got my dream guitar put together in my head and once I get moved and save some money again I think it's time i buy it. But I get nervous that I'll pick parts and paint jobs that might look like crap together.

If I get a dark colored body, black cherry red, and I want a maple neck/fingerboard, should i leave the headstock natural maple or have it painted the same as the body?

Also, how will maple look with dark colored body and headstock? I have 3 guitars with Rosewood fingerboards and really want a maple one.

I can't seem to find one like what I want to look as an example.

I like the contrast of a maple neck and dark body. Color matched headstock would look pretty cool, but I think the standard headstock would be fine. I'd go with a light pickguard though.

I don't like matching headstock on Fenders and on maple necks... the only dark headstock maple neck I liked was on the Wolfgang and it was black and not matched, not all painted, and not a Strat.

Maple necks look good with all body colors just leave the headstock alone.

I like matching headstocks on fenders. Though dark colours look better with a maple board. That, however, is what you're planning. Go for it!

I like matching headstocks on Fenders, especially on Jags and Mustangs (though a perfect Jag is in Sunburst without matching headstock, s/c pups and block pearl inlays IMO).

I say go for the maple neck and go for a matching headstock!!
