Cool Sorry Seymour...Bare Knuckle Pickups are fantastic!

I have been a Seymour Duncan fan for over 20 years and most of my guitars have SD pups.

But I was unhappy with the JB/Jazz combo I put in my PRS Custom 24. It was lacking something and it was bothering me.

A friend suggested Bare Knuckle Pickups but warned they are expensive. Hand made in England.

After paying $320 for a Cold Sweat and VHII I installed them. The first thing I noticed was the extreme clearity; the notes were perfect. It's like a bag was lifted off my guitar.

The pickups work perfect together and the $4000 PRS sounds like a $4000 PRS. Tone is amazing, I play through a Mesa Road King and/or Mesa 2:90, and I was...well speechless.

    Wow!

I am not saying go out and change all your guitars or to stop buying SD's but try a couple in your favorite axe. Man...you will hear a huge difference.

Cool Re: Sorry Seymour...Bare Knuckle Pickups are fantastic!

I tried the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop once. I wanted a JB in the old soap bar body style.

At first they did not want to do it.

After paying $165 I got a regular stainless JB without the pole holes and it was poorly made.

Seymour Duncan did sign the box or maybe it was one of the staff. Don't believe me? Ask Scott Miller.

Anyway, that is water under the bridge and I still use SD's. Well for the mean time...

And for considerably less than that, you can buy an Antiquity series. If anyone hasn't tried an Antiquity . . . you need to. They're all that.

Not knocking other pickup choices. There's many cool choices out there. But the Antiquities are . . . well, you gotta hear them.

I still can't help but think that a custom pickup from the Duncan shop won't sound like a Bareknuckle.

I'm going to be trying the Nailbomb or Miracle man in my next axe. From what I've heard, I should be absolutely blown away.

Bare Knuckles sure are good pickups, no doubt about it...
But the price... Well, let's say they could keep it a bit lower imho.

A company that is overlooked hugely (undeserved) is Swineshead Pickups U.K.. This company makes handwound, handmade pickups from the highest grade components, with the most finest finishing options, and all made to your needs if you want something special (meaning they don't limit it to the models shown on their website, they are just a reference). On top of it you get top-notch service and a REAL FAIR PRICE!!!

I am not saying these are BKP at half the price or somehting, but I am saying that these pickups are underrated seriously, although they make top-notch gear at a very reasonable price.(talking out of my own experience).

You can check the website out at:

    www.swinesheadpickups.co.uk

Sure worth checking out!! (don't mind the soundfiles too much, they are not that great quality, not realy worthy to the true sounds those pickups put out, I was very positively surprised when installing these pups!!).
    Guitars:
    -Ibanez RG620QM with PAF Pro(n)/Dimebucker(b).
    -Ibanez RG550 with Swineshead Condor(n)/Fast Track 1(m)/Steve's Special(b).
    -Ibanez RG450LTD with EVO(n)/ISCV2(m)/EVO2(b)
    -Ibanez RG08LTD with PAF Joe(n)/Steve's Special(b)
