What kind of magnet do you want for your pickups,Alnico or Ceramic and Why?

I`ll start,Now my guitar is installed with Seymour duncan JB on the bridge,Quarter pounder in the middle and Jazz on the neck.(H-S-H).I love it,all of them are with alnico magnets.

Well if I voice my own feelings about the matter, no matter how true they may be, I'll get flamed over it.

So I'll just say that ceramic always has some hair to it and has a weird compressed edge.

Alnico is natural sounding, and very musical.

I like them both and mix and match them. It all depends on what you want to do with them

generally speaking i like alnico magnets for the warmth and natural sound

that being said, i think lace sensor golds, which are ceramic, are some of the best sounding single coil pups ive ever heard

Ceramics are found 90% of the time in either high output pickups (humbucker or single) or in cheap single coil guitars. But they're also used in Duncan's "Li'l" series, Li'l 59, Li'l JB, etc., and I think they're used in some of the Rail series too.

Fralin uses them for his steel pole single coils -- Strat pu's that use adjustable poles like a humbucker. Two narrow ceramic bars are glued to the bottom of the pu on either side of the poles.

So you can see they're not "bad" magnets, they just have to be used in the right application.
In 1861 as Confederate forces were about to fire on Fort Sumter, the Blue and Gray had far more in common than the blue and red today. What fellowship can "the truth shall set you free" ever have with "what is truth"? Barring a major epidemic or nuclear attack to explode the postmodern myth that the reality outside our heads depends for its very existence on what we think of it, secession is coming...

what could you possibly say about magnets that will get you flamed? unless you dont think they make any difference which is almost impossible to believe

The last few magnet threads were pretty darn cut throat.
