Default need help!! Dif tween Breed neck and bridge

If the breed neck model was run in the bridge position, how would it sound diff than the breed bridge??

Reason I ask... I was able to borrow a breed neck pup and put it in the bridge position of my RG550. I sounds fantastic. However, before saving my pennies to make the purchase, I want to be sure I shouldnt get the bridge model.. after all it was designed for the bridge position..

    Help!!??

Don't get the bridge model. The Breed Neck in the bridge is sort of an underground tip. The pickup is entirely different. It's wound around 10k (screamin demon range) and the Breed Bridge is up around 17-18k. Totally different pickups. Lots of guys like the Breed Neck in the bridge. You can get them F spaced too, and for the RG you'll need that.

The breed neck is an intriguing bridge pickup. Yes it screams, a bit much IMHO but you may dig it - it has a good clean low end, no mud whatsoever. I have some clips I did up in a mad rush switching pickups before a biz trip (wretched - I have a string out of tune on the first one) but WTH at least you can hear the thing - in an SG, CHeck here 3/4 the way down

The pickup was extremely sensitive to string height & pole adjustment - which means you'll probably be able to dial in a tone you like, just keep in mind it'll be as frank said, Demon-ish.

Hmmm wonder why they are so radically different? Maybe I should stick with the neck model..

Dave, cool clips.. Thanks! I like the fred clip. I thought about getting one of those. But decided to try norton as its hotter. I liked the norton. And I also love a PATB3. Still need to try the PATB1 too.

    Anyhow, thanks for the info.

you are welcome - BTW I am real interested in the Norton - I have a Tone Zone in the Test Axe now, but think a notch down might suit me. I like the CC in the bridge of the superstrat - it has a very nice vintage rock tone, but clearer lows (a la the Breed or PATB1) would be nice. If you have a clip of the Norton clean let me know!

I made a few hybrids from a Fred and a Tone Zone that includes a specific TZ coil plus the coil from the Fred that is NOT the PAF Pro coil. In other words, the Fred is like one PAF Pro coil and one hotter "Fred coil" as I like to call it. So the hybrid is a Fred coil and a TZ coil. It's a good pickup with a nice mix of the two plus a thick nasally midrange good for soloing. Long story short, I heard from someone that I've basically been making Nortons. Someone said that's what the Norton is. The funny thing is they describe it in the catalog as between the Fred and the TZ. I guess they mean literally. Unfortunately I don't recall ever having heard an actual Norton, but they spec out the same anyway.
