Most I've spent was just north of $2600 for a USA Custom. Most I would absolutely spend on any guitar is $3000, spend without a thought on the right guitar would be $1500.

i would spend $6500 for a sandoval polka dot V
USA! USA! USA!
most i have spent was around 400-500 on a bc rich NJ Exotic Classic rich bich. but goes to around 600-700 with the dave mustaine livewires i put in it.
the most expensive guitar I own is a gibson les paul studio which was an 18th birthday present which i believe was around 1200 USD
my most expensive instrument all up will be a custom made guitar i am having done which will be around 3000-3500 AUD
I probably spent around $900 putting this mahogany Tele together.
About $400 for the USACG body
About $200 for the GRguitars Alparts neck
About $265 for WCR Crossroads set of pickups
Random other things like a Hipshot bridge, Wilkenson Klusons
Mostly I play my Les Paul Junior Special though, that cost about $600 used, and about $80 more for a HSC from Jack's.

$1500 maybe $1700.

i have mostly bought guitars in need of repairs... so when i sell them i get my money back or make some cash... rarely do i buy new.... i have bought maybe 4-5 new axes out of my 20...
but i could see myself going as high as $2400 Canadian to get a new Les Paul Standard or a nice Ernie Ball Axis in the future....
My Warmoth so far has been the most expensive axe i have paid for.. in 1995 it cost me $1700 when all was said and done...

Same here. The only exception are Martin Acoustics. I paid $1900 out the door for my D-28. And I only got it because of some inheritance money I got.
Lucky for me, the street price of a few higher dollar guitars I'd like are in that $1250-$1500 range.
SRV Strat
Eric Johnson Strat
EBMM Axis
Most of my guitars have been under $1,000, but I did spend $2,000 on my Les Paul.

ya i forgot that if i had the cash i'd spend more on an acoustic.. you know i had a weird day at the local shop once... i went into the expensive acoustic glassed in room.... at random i picked a guitar off the wall.. it truned out to be an $1800 Yamaha... It sang and it vibrated like crazy in my hands with a deep bass, the neck was pure magic... in comes the acoustic sales man and he knows me a little.... he took the Yamaha out of my hands and says you don't want that and gave me a $3000 Martin in my hands... IT sucked... no life, it was really dead sounding.. I turn around to see what happened to the Yamaha and he was hidding it....!!!!!!

With the current £/$ rate about $7000, for which I'd expect extreme custom shop service.

The most I will ever spend is around 2500$ when I buy a Les Paul standard after I graduate and get a career. 2500$ is about the running price for a lp here in Canada.
- Gibson CS ES339 - Gibson J-45 - Gibson Les Paul Trad - Gibson J-200 Standard - Fender Hwy1 Strat - PRS Custom22 Soapbar - Takamine E-series Acoustic - Fender Blues Deluxe - Fender Excelsior

Depends. If I have enough disposable income, in the future I'd like to get a vintage Strat. I don't really mind the whole 'they were once economy instruments' (etc) argument, I just want one; it's a piece of history.
On new stuff, I don't see myself paying more than what a CS Fender piece would be, or maybe something like the EJ Strat. Of course those prices keep on trending upwards...I bought a Malmsteen Strat in 1996/1997 for $850 drop shipped from the Fender factory; the price has come close to doubling in 10 years, which is kind of a joke.

About $1,500 is it for me. For my playing skill and basic rock and roll cover gigs, I don't see any reason to go past that.

For a production instrument (and it would have to be of incredible quality) I'd say $1,500 or thereabouts. Maybe $2,500 for a custom made to my very precise specifications with exotic woods or unique inlay. As others have said, at those price points either instrument should make me cream my jeans when plugged in and played.

712€. Thats how much my Cyclone ran me. For what I want/need/can use... I actually think it's above my league LOL.
