Bro, I only do it becasue you write stuff like this. That, and when I do it, I can tell it gets on your nerves.

    Love Ya Stratman!

If you really want to know and need suggestions, I can hit up a buddy of mine that is a wizz with this stuff.

If Theodie loves me - I'll slit my wrist!

Actually, I do want to hear from working musicians on the PA systems that they use.

I guess gigging in clubs and bars for 20 years doesn't count as a working musician.

Asking for advice and then being rude to people who respond is childish.

I got out of the cover song thing because club owners wanted us to drag a van full of PA gear into their clubs and then tell us to turn it down and then pay us $300 for a nights work. I only play clubs that have house PAs anymore.

When I was silly my rig was as follows.

    20 channel Mackie - unpowered.
Crown CE 2000 unbridged for mains
    Yamaha 15" mains
Crown CE 2000 bridged for subs
    Yamaha 18" subs
Crown CE 1000 unbridged for mons.
    4 Yahama 12" mons
DBX 166XL comp inserted into mains
DBX 1231 EX inserted into mains
Lexicom MPX 200 inserted into mains
    BBE 482 inserted into mains
Shure 57s on amps, Shure 58s on vox, bass direct, different drummers - different kit mics

And of course a 100 foot snake that never got uncoiled more than 20 feet.

I am sure there was more, like the Marantz 600 series CD player/burner for recording giggage and between set muzak.

My response is to Theodie who seems to try hard to post crap on top on any of my post.

Not sure where you are going with this. Are you looking to buy something and want reviews? I was a pro soundman for 10 years and have toured and done a ton of weekend warrrior gigs as a guitarist/singer so my list is pretty long, here's a few:

16 channel mixer - unpowered > Yamaha, Mackie, Soundcraft, Tac Scorpion, Behringer, Allen & Heath, Carvin
16 channel mixer - powered Soundcraft, Yamaha
24 channel mixer - unpowered >Yamaha, Mackie, Soundcraft, Tac Scorpion, Behringer, etc
    24 channel mixer - powered

Amplifier (State wattage, bridged, 2 ohm, 4 ohm, and 8 ohm) >Carver, SCS, Crest, Crown, Peavey, Carvin, Mackie, QSC > From 400 to 2000 watts generally,

PA Speakers > EV, Yamaha, JBL, Carvin, EAW, Apogee, Peavey

Monitors EV, Yamaha, JBL, Carvin, Apogee, Peavey

Subwoofer EV, Yamaha, JBL, Apogee, EAW

    Mikes Shure 58, 57, 87, beta 52, Sennheiser 421, AKG 451, D112, EV RE 20, Rode NT5, Beyer m88, plus a bunch more.
