I ended up throwing it away and don't regret it.

I also had the problem of saddles buzzing as well. I found out it was because there were small gaps between the saddle screws and the bridge block. I solved this by putting a very thin layer of superglue on both sides of the screw holes (and not on the bottom). After the glue dried up, the screws fit snugly without any vibration, still allowing to turn them when an adjustment is needed.
I also locked up the bridge and the stopbar to the studs with superglue, thus achieving a "TonePro locked bridge" effect. But my bridge was a cheap Epiphone-type, so I wasn't afraid to alter it in such a way. Don't do this to an expensive bridge!

If your retaining wire is rattling, you can put a piece of tape across it to see if it's actually the retaining wire rattling. If you put the tape on for a couple of days, if that stopped the rattling, you know it was the retaining wire. A dab of clear nail polish along the length of the wire is usually enough to do the trick.

Clear nail polish is great because it's clear, relatively strong, and it's easy enough to break when you want to remove it. Superglue is more difficult and will leave a mess.

The problem with removing the retaining wire is that the saddles and saddle screws will fall out when you change (or break) strings. And it's not fun looking for tiny saddles on a dark stage.

You're right but my saddles and saddle screws now fit snugly once I did the superglue mod, and won't fall down.
