What's so great about Finland?

For some reason I have always wanted to visit Finland. I don't know why, but I think I like Finland but I've never been there. I 'm sure that in the winter it's much too cold for me. But I'm betting the summer time there is glorious. Some how Helsinki gets to host big sporting events. That's the only reason I ever really think about Finland.

I hope I can find a reason in the next few years to find my way there.

Provide me some reasons to visit Finland?

Finland is as awesome as the Pacific Northwest. Finland has much technology and generally keeps its nose out of other countries' business.

My great grandfather migrated from Finland to Oregon.

LOL! We have a lot of Finnish people in our town, & every year someone has a relative in Finland that off's themselves in the Spring. Don't ask me why.

Also, every Finlander I know goes squirrely whenever they drink. Don't ask me why.

I've heard Finland is a beautiful scenic place to visit though.

What's not great about a land of Fins. Fins rock, shark fins, dolphin fins, whale fins, fins are WAY underrated. I wish I had fins.....or gills for that matter.

Oh okay...yeah, if you had said one or the other by themself I would have gotten it...I knew they couldn't hold their liquor well...and I knew the winter suicide thing...just wondered what happened when you put both together...

Finland unfortunately has a great alcohol problem...

And they like to blame the depression gotten from winter darkness for the alcohol consumption, and when the spring comes they have nothing to blame the alcohol for and hence get overly depressed with the eventual outcome of putting oneself to rest.

Edit: forgot to mention I have been to Finland. I wouldn't mind going there another time later, but frankly I didn't get to see a lot of what they can offer the last time (being mostly at the hotel and around in the city the hotel was in.. Looking around there was okay.. The thing a liked the most of that trip, was that I got to see the skerries outside Stockholm (which I will be inspecting closely already the next week! )

Finland may have the best metal scene per capita in the world. I mean for only like 4 million people they have some frighteningly good bands.

I met quite a few Finns when I was in Israel. I know it seems odd, but they liked visiting there, and many of them got assigned to the kibbutz I was on. They had there own boarding house they referred to as "Finlandia".

I got along very well with the Finns -- I remember they threw a big "midnight sun" party. They were all cool, easy going people.
