Honestly, it seems a little asinine that the "hot chick" threads are getting put in the same category as the religion/sexuality threads. I wonder if we're all just fooling ourselves into thinking that it'll attract more women to the board. I think the over-whelming male-ness of this place does far more to prevent that than a few pictures of scantly-clad women.

I also wholeheartedly welcome new rules and standards, and will do my best to abide by them. I know that I can be abrasive at times, but I can change that in the interests of the greater good.

I don't think they're being lumped together. I think we're getting a heavy dose of a lot of objections that have been brewing for a while.

We're getting a forum correction due to all the complaints flooding in from users who can't tolerate gay jokes, hot chix, crude sexual innuendo or perceived racism.

Honestly, I'm OK with that. If SD doesn't want any hot chick threads on his board, so be it.

But its more than just a little silly to think that they're a prominent force in driving female members away. The hot chick threads are simply a symptom of the overwhelming male-ness of this forum. I sincerely doubt that banning them would make this place any more girl-friendly.

Though, to be honest, its not really like tits much of a loss for the forum. I just hope that through all of these new rules this forum doesn't lose its sense of "fun".

I am thinking about a ban on animal cruelty. If I catch you kicking a dead horse, trying to keep it alive you'll get in trouble.

Other than the religion and semi-nude thing its really the old rules strictly enforced. If you cant keep it real or if you can't remain respectful you'll get three chances to get it right. After that the software takes over.

I am also going to make a suggestion. If you PM me and say little johnny is acting up I will look into it and also suggest that you put little johnny on your ignore list. We all know who the troublemakers tend to be and being on the ignore list of the majority of OT room users will take the wind out of their sails.

May I make a request?

Could you and the other mods consider a better ignore system? The current system isn't worth using and allows the offender's posts to be viewed when quoted by other people. It also still allows you to see that person has posted and allows you to view that post.

All of this combined means that the ignore system really doesn't do anything.

I think it has less to do with people being offended, and more to do with SD Co. wanting to project a certain image.

I get where you're coming from, but you have to remember that SD isn't exclusively catering to the "sex drugs and rock 'n roll" crowd. It's a pretty diverse company, and they want their image to reflect that.
