"He hoped and prayed that there wasn't an afterlife. Then he realized there was a contradiction involved here and merely hoped that there wasn't an afterlife."
-Douglas Adams

Wait wait wait...did somebody take something an American full of Jack Daniels said about race SERIOUSLY? Ohhh maaan.
Nobody say "bong" in any more threads I start okay? I love posting here and really don't wanna be banned.
It's kind of ironic tho, I was just thinking this forum has WAY too much hot chicks and Christianity. The combination of the two is just too confusing for me, it's like eating a slice of razzleberry pie that, every three bites, is scorpions.
Hope this place gets back into a guitar kinda groove again soon.

Seafoamer wasn't banned for using the F word and he didn't leave on his own accord. Seafoamer was asked to leave because he was being disruptive, rude and too aggressive with the membership. It is a terms of useage policy that has been poorly enforced receintly but the folks at SD have asked us to kick it up a notch.
Seafoamer was an ok guy part of the time and I liked him just fine. He had a habit of being a self proclaimed authority on several issues though and didn't like contrary opinions. If he really didn't like your opinion he'd freely tell you exactly how wrong you were.
One day I challenged that authority several times in a thread regarding children and it was a child under his supervision as a teacher. I pointed out what I thought were inconsistencies in his statements and also challenged his proposition that he was the only person qualified to have a "valid" opinion on children just because he was a teacher. Being a parent as well as someone with at least some college education as well as the owner of at least a couple of books that actually got read I just had to disagree with him.
He went on a tear and said some pretty harsh things to me. I was willing to let it slide but one of the other admins and the folks at SD caught wind of his behavior and it took them all of about 5 seconds to see that he was finally being too disruptive to be allowed to remain on this site.
That was in the days before the software had the infraction feature. It used to be that you really had to cross the line to get banned around here and the banning was always permanent. The old software/policy was rough because this place had to blow up before anything happened. Now you get 3 chances before you get a suspension and bannings only happen in the worst cases where members really cross the line in an obvious manner.
I think it is a far fairer way to deal with people. Now there are points along the way where members that don't understand the rules of conduct can be notified of the rules and their own personal conduct without immediatly losing the opportunity to participate on this site.
Of course in worst case scenerios, we still have the nuclear option but it is my hope that it never comes to that again.
Later today I will probably unstick this thread and post what I hope will be a short, clear and concise statement regarding what is expected from the membership when posting on any of these boards but this one in particular. I will also post a seperate thread for member questions and statements that the members may want to ask regarding the changes around here and what Is expected from them by the folks that pay the bills around here.
Just remember that all this stuff has been initiated, asked for and authorized by Evan so while you may disagree with the new policies and you are allowed to say that you disagree, you will still be expected to follow them.
