    Default Contemplating two new hybrids.

I was thinking of building two new hybrids. Like this:

I already have the 59/DD hybrid which is "ok", but nothing special. If I combine it with a Screamin' Demon, I get these two new ones.

    Questions:

    1. Would it be blasphemy to disect a Screamin' Demon?

    2. Would you call these bridge or neck pups?

    3. The original oversize ceramic or an A5 in the SD/DD?

    Should I do it? Thanks.

    Artie

P.S. Anyone desparately need a Demon before it goes to surgery?

I could see that being either a great B/N set or two different bridges, a hot one and a slightly hotter one.

I think either could be a cool pickup. The Demon/DD really sounds cool. I'd need to try both mags though.

I wonder how the Demon/Distortion would be with an A8? Maybe too shrill?

I'm not sure. I've never heard an A8.

Edit: I'm going to go ahead and try it. If it doesn't work out, I can always put the Demon back together.

No not shrill, a A8 is all about mids and decent alnico highs (between A2 and A5)!

Cool, but on the Distortion hybrid . . . shouldn't I shoot for the ceramic sound? As in . . . keep the Distortion, borrow the Demon? Or vice-versa?

    Oh my...
That Screamin '59 should sound soooo yummi in the neck position, and the Demon Distortion for the bridge, sounds like a great set right there.

1- In that case, it's not.
2- Screamin '59 - Neck and Distortion Demon - Bridge
3- I would keep the original Ceramic

Please do it! And some samples would be heavenly

Ok, I got them done. I went ahead with the A5 in both for now since I didn't have what I needed to fabricate the thicker spacers for the ceramic. Hopefully, I'll get these installed tomorrow and take 'em for a test drive.

Cool stuff, Artie. I agree with Blue_Fingers_Jay regarding the Screamin' 59. That could make a killer neck pickup. Keep us posted!
Duncan Pickups in currently in use: '59 (rewound to PATB-3)/'59, Custom 5/AP2H, Tapped QP set for Tele, Duncan Distortion, SP90-1/SP90-2

To be honest, I'm most interested in how that dual-screw pup sounds. The adjustment range is phenomenal.

This is going to take some shufflin' around. I actually had both of these installed today, and realized I hadn't "taped" the Demon Distortion. I had the Screamin' 59 in the bridge. I'm just concerned about having the stud coil closest to the bridge. I guess I'll have to try it both ways.
