When you play for fun, do you sit or stand?
I rarely (maybe 5% of the time) stand while playing. Just don't like it. Sitting feels so comfortable! Throw my legs up on the coffee table, and just kinda relzx with my guitar. I rarely hunch over while playing, my legs are usually up one something (table, desk, something).
But I don't like standing up and playing. I can, but it's definitely not my preference.
What about you all?

oops, i meant to vote standing but i clicked sitting. only time i sit is when im playing acoustic and thats only becuase i havent had the balls to drill a hole for a strap pin on my good acoustic yet, lol. if i had then id be almost all standing

I prefer to play standing up. I learned to play standing up and it just feels more natural and loose. Sitting down is okay, but I tend to feel cramped after a while. I also tend to move around a bit, so sitting kinda prohibits my natural tendency to do windmills, activate effects, stand in front of my amp, etc...
The only time I intentionally play sitting down is with an acoustic.

Yeah, I'm kinda surprised. I figured most would sit while practicing on their own, and stand while rehearsing with a band or performing live.
Setzer and Atkins too? I feel we're in good company.

Impossible to rock while sitting.
Plus when i sit, it hurts my picking shoulder. I'm much more loose when standing and play much better.
That's why I hate playing at like GC, etc because I'm usually really uncomfortable, on a strange guitar, strange pick, out of tune git, and usually some odd place to sit. Sound like a just learned to play.

I don't like the way sitting feels. Too high up for my arms. But then again, I wear my guitar as low as I wear my bass.

I stand when I play electric...I hate sitting cause the guitar slides too much. I play my acoustic sitting though.
You can run over a Tele with a pickup truck, pick it up - and it'll still play out of tune

People don't like it when they pay to see a bunch of dudes sit down and play.
I don't even sit at band practice.
At home, when recording, I do most of the time though.

When I first starting playing it was much easier to play while sitting than standing. Now its the complete opposite. When I sit my elbow cramps up and its just generally uncomfortable. Plus its easier to get your groove flowing when you stand.

Live - Flying :P (I haven't managed this yet LOL)
....Anyway I don't play live. I have only played once as a guest guitarist in a local band.

I should clarify that I sit only when practicing alone or with one other person, not in a full band setting. I also sit when recording. Live on stage, I'm up on two feet -- or just one foot, depending on the refreshments being served before and between sets.

I'm not talking about when you're in any situation with other people, or in public. I'm talking about just lounging around at home, playing for fun.

I prefer to play standing unless I'm learning something new, then I sit down, hash it out and then stand again and rock out. I record standing when I can too.

It depends on what I'm doing and how my back is feeling.
I prefer to stand.
