    Default good deal?

i found a guy out here who'll swap out 2 humbuckers and split (or parallel, or something) the neck one for a grand total of $70. ($40 for the pups, $30 for the other thing)

    is this normal?

it seemed ok to me so i went for it. eor don't know nothing, really. this, plus the cost of the pups (used off ebay) are almost equal to the original value of the guitar when i got it back in 96 or so. ($220)

Ummm, I usually do standard wiring for guitars for $35 + parts. Any special switching (split, parallel, out of phase, coil tapping) i usually throw in free.

    where was you yesterday, man?

well, to clarify, as i have it back now, he installed a new switchy dealie in it. in one position, it's normal, in the middle, the neck bucker is split, and in the third, it's parallel. he couldn't do the push/pull thing because my guitar is too thin, it would have stuck out the back. sos i guess you have to account for the part and the hole. :/ and now my guitar has two switches. kinda weird, but kinda cool.

besides, it's california. minimum wage is higher here. so there.

    love,
    eor
