Default In Need of tutorial ...

Ok, my Inavder has gotten loose ... I am mean its too close to the B and high E strings to the point where the string catches it if I fret it on 15th or higher frets. The two screws that hold the level of the pup dont do it at all. When I set it at a low enough level the pup is just not stable if I do a low E palm mute string the d amn thing might be moved again if I catch it with the edge of my palm ... so how do I fixed once and for all, thank you guys.

have you checked to make sure either the screw thread or the hole on the pup isnt stripped?

Nope the screw catches pup well, I can pull the pup up pretty well with the screws I just cant seem to lock it low enough so that the pup does not catch the strings.

maybe it's dumb but could it be the spring(s) is(are) too loose (ie, not elastic enough) and don't hold the pu in place properly? Or, perhaps the screws are too short or lose turns or sth...

Try putting some foam under the pickup to help stabilize it and keep it from rocking back and forth. Just put enough in the pickup cavity so the pickup compresses it a little bit when set at the correct height. An old mouse pad cut to size works good for this.

Ok ..... I dont get it .... my pup is too close to the strings when I do "catch" the pup with screws just a bit, it still is to close, wouldnt foam bring pup even higher?

they're supposed to be between the screw heads and the pickup, the screws going through them

No, the foam is soft enough that it compresses under the pickup giving it some stability but not making it sit any higher. Kind of like putting a pillow under it.

Thanks Dudes. Wymore, the foam from the mouse pad helped, it is more stable, but Keeper you were right these screws are to short I seem to like it at very heavy tilt, high on under the bass strings, low under treble ones. and I would like it lower under the treble but I "run out of the screw."
