I still have my first, but with a replacement neck due to an unfortunate accident.

My first guitar was my first electric guitar which was a 2000 MiM Fender.
After getting my new one (handmade SuperStrat) I have to admit that I rarely touch it (but then again this also has to do with the fact that I only have one stand and thus the MiM stays in the hardshell). Still, that didn't stop me from paying about 200 euros after the purchase of the new one to fix it up properly (frets, new pickup/pickguard and new wiring/electrics).
To me it's precious even if it is less than perfect (I have improved the tone greatly but I don't think I'll ever get used to that neck profile) because it was the first really expensive thing (at the time) I had saved up money for and the axe I taught myself the guitar on. It carries all my past mistakes, screw ups, experiences and aspirations and for that, I think it'll never leave my side.
On the other hand, you don't seem to have such sentimentalities with your MiM and the thing is, several posts clearly show that it doesn't have to be your first guitar, just the first guitar with which you clicked, the guitar you created memories on.
Whether you'll develop such down the road I cannot say, I don't know you. All I can say is that I have and thus I wouldn't part with it...
yeah I wish I still had my first guitar.

My really first acoustic and first electric were both trash, I don't miss them. I don't even remember what happened to them.
I still have my first real acoustic, a Takamine classical/nylon guitar. It was "right-sized", a medium-priced but high quality Asian instrument.
My first real electric was a Gibson Les Paul Custom. Nice enough guitar, but I didn't keep it. It was just binding too much money. For the money I got for it I could buy several other pieces of equipment that did a lot more to my playing and knowledge than a single piece of wood ever could do. Plus it was too heavy and uncomfortable. Did the Les Paul sound well? Hell I don't even know. My playing wasn't developed enough to tell.
Ever since I make pretty strong recommendations for people first real guitars: don't buy too expensive so that you can keep it. Get something comfortable, practical, that can be knocked around a bit and that doesn't make you jump in horror if the bassman flips over your guitar stand.

I still have my first, even though it only cost about $400, purchased new - a 1971 Martin D-35.

Well, the headsock came off my first guitar, the pickups went south, and it sounded like ass. It eventual fate was met when it was set on fire and thrown off a bridge. So it had a pretty good send off, but no, I don't still have it. Oh the frolicks of a group of 14 year old boys. Heh.

First guitar. Cheap-O gibson acoustic copy. Warped neck. Unplayable. But as somebody pointed out it must of been owned by a pretty good player because the wear between the frets was even and extensive the full lenght of the neck. It's long gone and I wish I had it for that reason only to hang on the wall. First Electric. Ibanez LesPaul TV copy. Yellow. Moved the P-90 to the neck and installed a Gibson Original L Humbucker at the neck. Still have it.....Great sound..........Sweet Neck....Cheers...........C

I wouldn't get rid of mine.
My classical belonged to my dad, the APX was a gift from my folks and I picked it out from a lot of others and did some reaserch, the Cyclone was payed by me and I looked all over for a guitar that could do what this one can.
