Am i dreaming or is Tony Iommi useing a White SG with a Floyd in some of the new Heaven and Hell cd/dvd stuff.... i don't have the dvd yet but i have the cd's and there is some photos of him with a white Sg Custom with a gold trem of some sort... i always assumed an SG is too thin for a floyd.. anyone have any specs on that axe....

listening to "I" from that new live Heaven and Hell cd gives me SG Gas

while id expect iommi to have an SG custom built with a floyd, it looks almost like it was put on aftermarket. theres two little iron crosses where the tailpeice posts would be....

Probably not from the factory. Not only is the SG thin, but the neck is on an angle to the body, on most models except for some ugly ones in the 1970's.

The white SG Customs with maestros sure look nice, and work fine if you don't act like a chimpanzee with the thing.

He's had a few other SG's with Floyd Rose trems installed. I would think that maybe if you take an Original Floyd and add the shorter 36 mm block, as compared to the stock 42 mm block, then it could be installed.

There's always the option of cutting the block to fit as well. Most repairmen won't attempt this, but if you're Toni Iommi Gibson will find someone that can do this

Accordint to Mike Clemment, Iommi's tech, it is a Gibson custom shop sg in white (because it was reasdy to go) they installed teo iommi humbuckers and an original floyd rose tremolo for some of the songs on the mob rules/dehumanizer albums that required it.

This was a month or two before the tour and so there was no time to put in his signature crosses.
At least this is what I remember from the iommi website/forum
