    Default Oh my God ....

I've just played a 1978 Tele ...... WOW !!!!!!!!! I am strat man myslef, I want ape crap with it, and it was not even pluged in !!!! I use to and I think still hate C necks, but this neck was HEAVEN !!!! the feel, the tone, the feel of wide vibrato, THE WEIGHT ... I always wanted a Tele, and now I want this one but it has a real sentimental value to its current owner so ..... I've never enjoyed a guitar that I've never played before as much as I did this one ..... it was an experience but itself ...

I had the same feeling when I recently picked up a Fender Custom Shop NOS 63 tele.
    $2500 of pure joy.

Dude, this guy says he bought it for $50 bucks and baseball and a hat from his bro when he was Berkeley school of music, and he is drummer too ... I doubt if he would sell it even if I offer real price, too many memories.

the only thing worse than finding a guitar you love, is finding that it's being loved by somebody else.

and a greasy drummer at that!

reminds me of somebody i know with a 67 Telecaster...well worn in, sweet tone, but he never plays it. in fact he doesn't really do anything, he's 21 and still lives in his parents' basement, hasn't cleaned his room in literally years. there are half-eaten bowls of food that are several months if not years old stacked up next to the case holding that Tele, a custom shop Strat, and his dad's 59 Les Paul...bugs living in his Marshall JMP with 1969A cab...never plugs in the Marshall, only takes out the guitars to brag about them and can't even really play. He won't sell 'em tho...probably plans on pawning 'em when his parents finally tell him to move out.

to help with your GAS, your friend's Tele is probably pretty similar to those 72 reissues they've got out now. Neither of the reissues have the tremelo but they both have awesome tone and feel for the price. Top of my GAS list, besides an ORANGE halfstack of course...

Nah dude, it no greasy drummer. He went to but dropped out from Berkeley, he installed duncans in it. It in great condition. The maple neck is worn out just like Eddie's og frankie. If this project takes off, this thing would be recorded with at least.

Well that's cool. At least you get to work around it. Maybe he'll want you to have it if you rock it's socks off.

Nobody wanted those '70s guitars Fenders until a few years ago. You could hardly give the things away. Now people pretend that they're the Holy Grail, and spend stupid amounts of money buying them.

Most of us didn't really wanted them in the '70s and '80s.

A lot of that sound came from using 1meg pots, and a .001uf treble bleed cap on the volume pot.

I am one of those guys that does not plug in some times at all in a store, because I am very insecure how I will sound, because I am one of the most neck dependent players. With this one I couldnt stop, the feel, the tone such beatifull complex harmonics of the wood, I could not believe, a totally C neck and I loved it. This guy is an awesome drummer and I ran a chance of making "the dude sucks" impression but I just could not suck, may be this guitar did suck in 1978, but now its heavenly matured.
