    Default ssl-1/aps-1/aps-1 Review

I tried this pickup combo because I just got some ssl-1's from tenniso and I had some aps-1's in my backup guitar.

The sound is amazing. I freaking and absolutely love it. I installed them in a strat with a rosewood neck. The sound is very versatile, smooth, woody, and warm. I am still having shrilly problems with the ssl-1 on the high E because of pickup height. I use 9-46 strings so that is my fault.

The quack of this combo is different...Can't really put my finger on it... I warm-esque less ice-picky quack. I guess a duck drank some good coffee or something type of quack. :-p

For those that have ever tried this combo... what do you guys think of it. Is there any guidelines you follow to get a really good sound with adjust pickup height. I have found using the "coin-method" for the ssl-1 is a little to bright.

Thanks guys for all the soldering knowledge and tone tips over the years (I was a lurker for a while)... I finally found my sound. (Well for my strat anyway )

BTW. 2007 American strats pickups are have reverse polarity with Seymour Duncan's.

Which position is the SSL in? I've currently got the SSL in the n/m but I kind of miss the APS in the neck. I'd be curious to learn how the APS and SSL combine in the n/m combo...

    It's B ssl-1, M aps-1, and N aps-1.

    Sorry for not clarifying.

Try swapping the neck and bridge pickups around. That should get rid of some of the ice picky-ness in the bridge.
    Ain't nothin' but a G thang, baby.

    i would prefer the b=APS-1/m=SSL-1/n=APS-1
just adjust the APS-1 on bridge alittle closer to the strings than the other two... have fun!
