    Default BBQ in an Explorer??

Any one try this? Ive had a C4 or Custom in my Explorer for ever and am pretty satisfied.. Will some turns that life has taken, Im gonna have to lessen the collection. Im committed to keeping my Explorer and am thinking of trying something new in hopes Ill find that pickup that makes it perfect, so Ill not miss the others. I have a 59b in the neck and am happy there.
I have a BBQ at the house, but I dont wanna go thru the hassle of swapping if it will be too dark or muddy.

Anyone tried this? what cha think??

Of course you could leave the tone pot off from the wiring, or change the value of it.

do you have the stock 300k volume pot still in? ive never tried a BBQ, but my guess is itd be a lot better with 500k.

I think you should just try it if you already got it at your house. Pickups will sound different in different guitars with different amps. My analysis in my HM Strat was that the three low string were WAY too fat and bassy but I totally loved the three high strings w/the BBQ...it just rang like a bell. In mahogany I would think about sticking an A8 in that Custom of yours. I've heard the Custom 8 is pretty sweet.

Yeah, the Custom 8 rocks for leads.. I have one in my Kramer Focus 6000.

I'll prob try the BBQ, Im just very burned out on pickup swapping and hate to tear it down. haha I always take extra time to try not to scratch or mess anything up..

Do all gibsons use 300k pots? If so, are they radically different than 500s?
