    Default Seymour Duncan Blackout Bridge

I'm a new convert to Seymour Duncan Blackout Bridge pickup. Previously, I was an EMG-81 user. I liked the 81 because it is a necessary pickup for downtuned syncophated metal but my ears don't like the compression that comes with it.

With the Blackout, I got a more organic tone, with more bass, and mids. Overall I am happy with it BUT

There seems to be this little high end ring immediately when I stop after I do synchopated riffs. It's not a big issue but I just wanna get rid of it.

I haven't played in a rehearsal room, in a band setting, using half-stacks.

I'm currently just 'test-driving' the pickup with the following set-up:

NNG Custom Flying V ( Mahogany body / rosewood fretboard )
    Pedals:

    Home-made Overdrive
    MOdded Metal Zone
    Modded BOSS GE-7
    Boss NOise Suppressor

I use 0.54 to 0.12 strings tuned to C# standard or Drop-B with medium action.

The pedals go straight to the FX return of an old Charvel solid-state combo amp.

If you guys, have views on this little problem, please enlighten me.

    Thank you.

Tape off your strings above the nut and behind the bridge if it's a TOM - you're hearing those strings vibrate.

TOM - Tune-O-Matic??? My bridge is just like a traditional Gibson Flying V. Where do I tape? Thanks for the reply though.

    TOM = tune o matic.

A picture might help more than anything:

Where the electrical tape is - that's where you want to deaden vibrations.

    Thank you bro,

The picture does really help. Is that a Schecter and a 5150II or a Peavey 6505+ ?

Nice axe Jeff. And an interesting speaker cab too. I like the "Colonial" look, and the cool places to store speaker cables and picks and stuff.

Thanks for the tip, Jeff. Are there any other ways to do this without taping??

    Tape is the most efficient.

If you're ever using a guitar with a whammy bar, make sure to stuff the cavity full of Kleenex, for the same reasons.
Buy the book in my avatar. It's pretty cool.

Schecter check, 5150II check. good eye!

You can use foam, but I find electrical tape to look the cleanest and be the most effective.
