Default Is this an actual Custom Shop Gibson?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=004

I was tempted to bid on it but I don't like black guitars and I don't like Kahlers.

Since it is refinished what do I know whether somebody put a custom shop decal. Might also be a cut up normal Explorer.

Anybody knows anything about this model?

I've never seen a gibbo that looked like that. Then again, I'm not an expert on all their odd models. I don't know what to tell you other than to be very cautious. I'd wait till someone in the know could chime in before you bid.

I let the auction pass anyway.

It's a 1998, BTW, but I did some googleing yesterday and even with the year I found nothing.

I'm lucky they didn't refinish it in metallic yellow.

all the parts look correct- i.e.- kahler bridge. Looks like it may be a true custom one off

How did you determine that it's a 98? It appears to be a limited run from 85.
Was Kahler even in business in 98?

Someone made a nice score for $610.

I wasn't brave enough to pull the trigger, apart from not liking black.

The serial number fits the scheme of first and fifth digit and that would place it in 1998.

I think the Kahler might have been installed when somebody refinished it. Black refinish and gold bridge might have come together.

    It's a 1985 model. I remember seeing a couple of them before.
