I'm talking about the PATB-2. I love it's dirty sound through any amp I've played it through (10watt squire, 100watt 2x12 valvestate, 50watt tube laney halfstack ect so forth), but clean it's just.. average to urrgh. Nasally? Quacky? My SuperD is much nicer clean (although it's also in a hardtail guitar unlike the PATB-2 which is next to a floyd).

Keep in mind that the PATB2 is a distortion pickup. So the clean isnt going to be pristine.

I'm not talking about distortion while playing clean (I actually like the fact I can hit it hard and get some breakup), but the actual clean tone is .... ordinary.

What he meant is that it is a distortion-oriented pickup, it was designed to best work under distortion, not clean. In short it doesn't sound very good clean because that's not what it was meant for...
