If you could take the place of a Hollywood actor (or actress if you're into that sort of thing), which one and why?

If price wasn't an issue, and you had the courage, what extreme sport would you love to be doing?

Hey Joe, I'm trying to think of something good to ask!

    OK...I've got it:

Since I don't have speakers on my computer right now and can't hear any of the bros on the Tips and Clips page, who's posted the most impressive guitar demo thus far? In other words, of the guys here who you've heard, who's playing here on the forum has impressed you the most?

(BTW, I was knocked out by Jolly's demos back when I did have speakers.)

Johnny Depp or Sean Penn, because their films will always be classics, and they live a cool life.

If price wasn't an issue, and you had the courage, what extreme sport would you love to be doing?
I used to be into surfing when I was 11-17, but guitar took over as my main interest. If I returned to it, I'd like to try Windsurfing. There's something very attractive about surfing further out into the ocean with the wind pulling me along. Plus, it's far less dangerous than most extreme sports. I don't like any sport where I feel I'm in constant danger of injury or death.

Given the chance. Would you? Could you? Did you?Yes. You can swallow now.

Is there a style of music you like that we don't know about, or are ashamed to admit to?
For songs and FX useage, I like some modern Brit-pop like Coldplay, The Verve, Spandau Ballet, Duran Duran etc. As far as guitar playing, I listen mostly to country pickers nowadays, because I'm bored with rock and blues.

One reason I don't go there much, is because at work I'm on dialup, and it takes forever to download a clip. Plus, I always feel weird about commenting on people's music, and don't care to hear opinions about mine. I just come here to joke around and have fun. I'm in the formative stages of a new band, so once we record something proper, I'll post some songs. I don't like posting works in progress or noodlings, only finished things I'd stamp my name on.

There's a few players who I can appreciate, but the one that stands out as my favorite is Kirk Lorange's slide playing. I like playing a lot of slide, so I love listening to his clips for ideas and enjoyment.

Oh yeah, I consider myself very mechanically inclined, and good at figuring out difficult tasks. I'm usually the first person my friends ask, when something of theirs is broken. And I'm generous about it. I tell most people "eh, buy me a six pack of Heineken, and we're good."

A few weeks ago, a co-worker was worried about his broken electric window on his Cadillac. I yanked his door panel off, and pulled out the control panel, and reduced it to spare parts on my desk. I found the spot where a spark was arcing, and fixed it. He took me to lunch in return.

I meet a lot of kids that are broke and need their guitar setup. Before they even ask, I offer to do a free setup. I've done countless setups for neighborhood kids, and it comes back in karma points. Some of those kids now go out of their way to watch out for me and my property.

To this day, I don't think I've ever paid someone to do an oil change. It takes me 10 minutes and $10.

What is your favorite horror movie, what is your least favorite horror movie, and what do you think of Johnny Hiland?

Sorry I'm highlighting everything in colors, but I think it makes it easier to read questions and answers.

My favorite kind of horror is movies that seem plausible and horrific. Usually torture/dungeon type movies like Hostel I and II. I really dislike zombie movies, because it seem ridiculous to me.
I'm always going to be a big fan of Rob Zombie's Devil's Rejects, however, because I've seen it so many times and just plain love the movie. You know it's going to be good when the opening song is Midnight Rider by the Allmans, and a woman that looks like my avatar is being stabbed in the back for no reason but to take her junky car. LOL

After America started doing reality shows, Mexico came out with a show called Enfarto, which is a prank show like Punk'd, only the situations are horrific and terrifying for the victim. Sometimes, they actually think they're going to die, from an attacker or a goblin type creature (midget actor!) It's one of the funnest Mexican TV shows to watch on local TV. I can't believe it's still on the air sometimes.

I've heard a lot of youtube clips of Johnny Hiland, but have never bought his CD's. I like his country picking much more than his rock playing or rock tone, and he really belongs on a tele.....although it's cool that he lends his name to PRS, so people understand that PRS guitars can be used for that style. I think PRS guitars are great for fingerpicking styles, because they're so articulate, compared to a Gibson. They're like a tighter, snappier, and more articulate LP.

Well if you like country picking, then what do you think about the greatest picker of all time, Chester Burton Atkins? Would you get a 12 foot tall Papier-mâché statue of him hugging his Gretsch Country Gentleman in your foyer, as I plan to do?

Oh and have you ever or would you ever own a Gretsch? Your 335 is a hollowbody for sure, but it's not the same as a Gretsch (many would consider that a good thing though ).

Never owned a Gretsch, but always wanted a Black Duojet.

I should really sit down and learn some Chet Atkins, note for note. I think it would be good for anyone into fingerstyle guitar.

Well if I have to sell my Duo Jet, I'll give you first dibs. And yeah, about a year ago I started learning Atkins note for note and that devolved into my obsession for fingerpickin. It's a real skill, much as any other form of guitar mastery. I haven't come close to mastering it yet, but it sure is fun. The thing I like so much about it is it's similar to a piano - you've got your thumb controlling the beat and (to an extent) the melody, while your middle/ring/pinky fingers control the harmony. Then when you need to, you bring in your index finger with the pick for the fast runs.

    Pretty fun stuff.

Ideally, when do you see yourself getting married, and are kids in the picture for you all?

I feel that paparazzi photographers and 'journalists' should be forced to have one nostril super-glued shut for life. Do you agree?
