    Default Flying V owners--Please Help!!

Hi--I just bought a used Gibson 'Flying V' [`67 re-issue] that is in really good shape along w/ the matching hardshell case and am having problems setting the guitar safely into the case. I always seem to bang one of the 2 'V' horns on outside of the case itself, as it is a 'tight fit' to get the guitar into the case. I 'cringe' every time I 'bump' it--ugh! Any help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I am even thinking of getting a 'gig bag' for it!

Just be glad it fits tightly into the case. That's MUCH better than fitting loosely. I'd say just get used to it, personally.

You could sand the tips of the horns down, or get a wall hanger or something.

With normal (to me) guitars like Telecasters and Les Pauls, I've always angled the body down into the case. That way, the case decides where the guitar should be, and then I lower the neck into the case.

You can't rely on good aim.

+1 to Pete, on what seems like common sense.

I'm not sure what you mean by banging the "outside of the case." If it's a case like one of these:

Then I'd stand the guitar up in the case on it's V horns and lay the neck down until it's snug.
