Default 50s/60s Duosonic, strat, mustang, musicmaster pickups etc...

Are these pickups REALLY the exact same thing with the strat's being staggered while the others aren't? If so, what would the sound difference be and would you be able to stagger one that's not and use it in a strat? I gotta say, the best neck pickup I've ever heard was in my 57 Musicmaster, which I of course kinda regret selling. The dalm frets were just too small for my fingers.
    My songs....enjoy! (hopefully )

get another musicmaster, but put a later 24" scale neck on it, or just buy a later MM with that already if you can play a gibson you can deal with a 24" scale neck. Playing a 24" scale neck is EXACTLY like playing a strat neck with a capo on the first fret...

and yeah. I think the specs were supposed to be SLIGHTLY different in terms of output (saw a chart somewhere once) but the construction is exactly the same other than the polepieces and you get so many "hotter" and "lower output" variations within the same model of guitar that you can't really make a distinction between the sound of them between guitars.

I don't think you can just "stagger" an unstaggered pickup. But I've never had a problem with volume on any nonstaggered pickups...

(I have avatars and sigs turned off. Do you?)

Oh, I had an all original 66 Duosonic in the white that had faded to a beautiful cream color with a tortoise pickguard. The sound was to die for except for the buzzing, but money got tight and I sold it. I miss that guitar lots.
