First guitar: Fender DG-7. First electric: Ibanez RX240. First pedal: Boss ME-50 (although I used a friend's Boss Chorus Ensemble for a long time, as well as someone's GNX4 or something). First amp: Starforce (korean generic brand amp), then Fender Twin Reverb right afterwards.

There's a lot of qualifiers involved with me.

My parents didn't like the rock and roll.

My first guitar was (I believe) a "Stella" brand acoustic that used to belong to my uncle. I remember that guitar sucking a whole lot. I remember it was a type of silverburst.

The first guitar I really owned was a "Carlos" brand acoustic. Looking back, it was a cool guitar, but it wasn't a "name" guitar and I thought it was so "beginner." It played great, it sounded great, it recorded great. I sold it for $10. I really wish I hadn't sold it- it was a much better acoustic than any acoustic I've owned in the subsequent 17 years.

My first electric guitar was a refinished "Kalamazoo" brand Strat knockoff. Kalamazoo was Gibson's "cheap" brand in the late 60s/early 70s. They were bad guitars. My Kalamazoo was no exception. I don't remember what happened to that guitar. I just hope it's burning in hell as I type.

My first bass I owned was/is my 1971 Gibson EB-0. I still own it. It's been through hell and back. It plays awesome- I love the body style- it sounds pretty good for what it is...

Me, in 1986 with my EB-0:

Prior to that, my parents didn't want to buy me a bass, thinking I would outgrow that rock and roll thing. I borrowed a couple of basses from a guy from my church. The first one was a horrible Hofner knockoff. Later, a horrible Jazz Bass knockoff, after that a different horrible Hofner knockoff.

They were bad basses, but that dude let me borrow his basses for 3-4 years. If he hadn't done that, I don't have a clue as to what I would have done. Maybe that's why I've always been so liberal about letting people borrow my stuff.

He also gave me my first amp. It was a broken tape deck. It worked, I could hear myself. But it was a broken tape deck.

My first "real" electric guitar was my 72/74 Tele Custom. That guitar sucked. The hatred I have for that guitar still burns like a thousand suns. I laugh at people who desire those old guitars.

My first guitar amp was a Kingston SS POS. That thing sucked. It was probably a 15w head with chintzy reverb and a decent Tremolo/Vibrato into a 2x12 cab. No idea what happened to it.

My first "real" guitar amp was my old 1976/77 100w NMV Marshall with 4x12. I still have the cab...

Here's an awesome pic of my gear, from around 1990- The Tele, the EB-0, the Marshall are there.

Man, that makes me really grateful for my parents. They wanted me to get into rock and roll. My dad raised my on a healthy diet of Led Zep, AC/DC, Tull, Skynrd, Stixx, and the like. In fact, I'm convinced they bought me my first guitar to get me off of rap/hip hop. It worked, I dropped that crap like a hot skillet.

I still own my first guitar. I play it very regularly... more often than my CS Strat. My parents bought it for me about four or five years ago.

It's been modded twice. I got a Duncan Distortion and a Cool Rails put in. After that I wanted a more simple setup. Tonal changes: a WCR Goodwood in the bridge, electronics (stock 300k pot to RS 500k pots) and Ferraglide saddles.

My first amp is a Peavey Rage - I'm not sure if it's still around but it blew out one day. Doesn't work.

My first pedal is a Boss MT-2 Metal Zone. I lent it to a friend about a year or two back... he's still got it.

First guitar: Cort strat knockoff. Sold it to buy an early 80s Ibanez that looked like Pete Townsend's Schecter from the Eminence Front days. Still have it.

First amp: Crate 20w thing. Long gone.

First pedal: An original Ibanez TS9. Got stolen at a gig.

    Epiphone Les Paul Special II
Marshall MG30, about three generations ago.
    Zoom 505

The guitar met its end when a fat man fell on stage into me. The MG30's dirt channel broke, but the clean channel still worked after falling off the back of a stage from the top of two milk crates, I eventually scrapped it. Who knows what happened to the 505, just fell to bits I think.

I borrowed an acoustic from a friend for a year or so, before buying the most exensive guitar I could afford, an Epiphone Les Paul Custom (that it looked like the one Slash used in the Estranged video was an extra bonus for me). I still have it, but I plan to unload it soon.

My first amplifier was a crappy Marshall MG, I think it was the 50. At the time, I believed that more watt = better wound, so I once again bought the biggest one I could afford. It was stolen, and to be honest, I don't care about getting it back.

My first pedal was a Boss Blues Driver. That one I used for years but eventually dumped, since my current ADA rig didn't really respond well to it. I gave it away to a friend of mine (an awesome blues-rooted guitarist), who gave it a safe spot in his rig. It's much better this way I believe.

My first guitar was an Accoustic (made in Taiwan I think) gifted to me, my bro and sis by my parents when I was 7 that has long been gone.
My Second guitar was again gifted to me by my Cousin Iwas 13 then. He had a few guitars various accoustics and electrics and bass. This guitar he gave back then was already 10-15 years old it was/is a jumbo model it also reads JUMBO as the guitar manufacturer on the headstock. Real SWEET GUITAR Rosewood back and sides Cedar top and rose wood neck. I still have this guitar, and I am not trading this for anything.
My first electric wa my V I still have it. It was unpgraded to Duncan JB in the bridge but that has changed it now has Ibanez Pups in it. I use this as back up now. Great neck.

My main Electric is my SA 120. nice guitar.

My Amp has not changed .. I am thinking of a Laney.
    Digitech Bad Monkey,digitech Digi delay,
Ibanez SA 120- Bridge JB Trembucker Neck Jazz
JFG Flying V, Egmond 1963 LP-stock pickups, Strat copy SSL1s

My first guitar. I don't know the name it was a hand-me-down from a friend of a relative. I wish to this day I could figure it out.

It looked like this, but it wasn't a Guyatone, it had a circular, aluminum, gold, and black name plate/sticker the size of a nickel on the one-piece, oversized, stratish headstock. It may have been a Tesico Del Ray, maybe a Harmony (but I don't think so), Sears & Robuck? Who knows it was definitely a mid to late '60s sunburst, slab solidbody that looked sort of like this (it was a unique shape, but not out of the ordinary, or too spacey-like), with a much smaller 'white' pickguard, and way more funky lookin' pickups, kinda toaster-like contraptions with gold foil beneath the slots on the silver cover.

A little GORILLA amp, and a BOSS HM-2 stompbox.

My first guitar was a Silvertone solid body and the case was also my first amp...it was one of the amp in case models Ibelive it was a 1966 model...I had no pedals and was very young so I did very little with it. Years later when I got into guitar again my "first" that time was a 70's Epi acoustic wiht a bolt on neck, I added a pickup from a Teisco and played it into a Lab Series L9 amp and soon after than went electric which invoved several different crappy bolt neck LP copies (never more than one at a time but I'd get one, play it till it died and get another one!) and my first amp set up was a Radio Shack, SS, 30 watt, 2 channel PA head into a 1x12 and a horn Peavey PA bin which I disconnected the horn on, and in front of it I ran a Big Muff Pi...I later added an EH Poly Flange and a Crybaby wah and soon after moved on to a Traynor Bassmaster and a 2x12 Bassman cab then to a pair of Silvertone piggybacks...Ahh, the good old days!

My very first guitar was a literal toy -- an Emenee (pronounced "M&E") nylon string plastic acoustic; brown sides & back, tan top. Blown away by the winds of time.

My first "lesson" guitar was a Winston steel string acoustic, with a screwed-on pickguard. Tobacco burst finish, made in Japan when MIJ was considered a joke. It's somewhere in dad's basement.

My first electric was an MIJ no-name half-azzed strat knockoff (they got the headstock shape, but not much else). It was a red/black burst, one neck pup (black cover w/green foam peeking out for underneath). A metal bar slanted across the headstock as a string tree for all 6 (not just the highs). The amp was a Teisco plastic box with an 8" speaker, black fabric across the cone. I thought it would sound better if I took the padding from an old pillow and used it as damping for the case. It didn't. The guitar's still at dad's house, I lost the amp when I moved to Paducah.

My first guitar purchase was a Univox Badass, a quirky 2-pup orange burst with offset cutaways and a Hagstrom whammy bar (possibly the worst ever built; ultimately, I tightened it down to almost-hard tailpiece tension). My older bro's got it; he lives at dad's house. I see a pattern emerging....

The first bass was a repair-shop bailout. Some guy ordered the frets shaved on his black Precision, but skipped out on the bill. It now has a Wilkinson 5-string tailpiece with a low B.

My first bass rig was an SVT rescued from a rehearsal studio, with an Acoustic 106 twin 15 cabinet and Altec drivers. They went the way of all starving artist gear -- the pawn shop.
