Thumbs up Just tried an Invader.

And I'm really surprised. This is one of the best sounding bridge pups I've tried. Some aspect of its construction makes it lose that brittle high-end that bridges are known for, yet it has a nice high-end. Its not dull or muffled at all. In fact, you could mistake it for a Jazz neck. Its definitely got a hotter output, but that only affects the relative position of the amps volume control.

Dirty . . . its a beast. Plugged into my Spina-fied DS-1, I had to knock out a few bars of "Iron Man". Had to. This might be the most fun distortion yet. It begs for power chords, and I don't usually even play those.

I'm actually thinking of using one of my guitars as a bridge-only axe just for this pup. Maybe the SG. (Thats where I'm trying it.)

Amazing. I only bought this to try out, and now, I'm fairly sure its a "keeper". I need to mess with it over the weekend to be sure . . . but I likey.

Edit: Special thanks to kjrocks for the nice price on this.

Thats exactly what I suspected, but its not at all. Great clean sound, but I've been playing it with serious distortion ever since I got home with it. It just sings and crys.

Probably pretty good. I just popped it into my "chipwood" SG to try out. Anything else would have to sound better.

Btw: This has a nice usable clean sound, but it begs for distortion. If I roll the volume back a bit, and dial the tone down, I get this killer Santana sound. Bring the volume back up, and it goes into AC/DC crunch. I get some great control over the DS-1 with this. Probably because its pumping the frontend so hard.

The invader is surprising Artie! I played a gig last week and one of the other band's guitarists just had amazing tone for rhythm AND lead. He played a Gibson les paul into a Marshall stack. At first I was thinking it was some kind of dimarzio but I asked him after their set and lo and behold it was an Invader! What really really surprised me was how good the lead tone was.

Why not, the King V with fixed bridge is the most comfortable guitar I know.

If it sounds much like a neck-Jazz, why couldn't you use them both and wire middle position so that they are in series, OVERKILL!

Maybe. The jazz neck refernce was what I imagine a jazz sounds like. The Invader must have more cojones though.

Give it a few weeks when the honeymoon is over.

I loved the Invader at first becasue it sounds so huge and full but, I came to the conclusion that it didnt have quite enough clarity for me.

I'm starting to like my set of Invaders more as time goes on, but I still think the JB is a better metal pup. The Invader certainly has more bite to it though.

I used an Invader for several years, a DM X2N prior to that. Both pups fit the music I was playing at the time, which was hard rock and punk rock. It kicked!

My tastes in playing have changed, so I'm using different pups, but they were great at what they did. I'd recommend coil taps for the odd contrast now and then.
