Default Crazy 8 on what kind of wood?

I'm thinking of dropping one of my Crazy 8's into the bridge position of a new Warmoth Strat (ideas still being fleshed out). They've been around a while and wondered whether any conclusions have been drawn as what type of wood they work best with. Probably thinking of another maple topped job, but what to use for the base wood. Anyone have any recommendations?

Mine is installed in an Ibanez AWD82TB Artcore guitar. Maple sides/back, bubinga top. Mahogany neck/rosewood fretboard.

The song, "Sing" on my band's page is a one-off with the Crazy 8 through a Celtic Franklin amp.

"Who Is Your Savior" is the Crazy 8 as well. The rhythm track is the Franklin with a Verbzilla. The lead tracks were recorded through a POD XTL.

It took me some time to dial the Crazy 8 in. That said, it's working great in my American Series Strat (alder).

It's a wrm but cutting Humbucker...So Mahogany and Maple cap ,or maple body ,or better Swamp-Ash body will be allright..It's a tad loose for the Basswood ,if you're not using maple or ebony board tho!

I have had a Crazy in at least 6 of my guitars (alder/maple/maple - mahogany/mahogany/ebony - mahogany/maple/ebony) and I like alder/maple/maple and mahogany/maple/ebony the best. The mahogany neck was just a little too much "warm" for a PATB design (my tastes of course). I also like it in a bolt-on more than neck-though.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Think I'll be taking a look at either a swamp ash or mahogany base then. It was getting a maple/maple neck anyway. I'm intending putting a single sized HB at the neck position, any suggestions for a good match with the 8?

As for the rest, it'll have an LSR nut, Planet Waves and a Wilkinson VS100 at the bridge. It will also likely have the same control set-up you can see on the other Warmoth Strat you can see on the flickr link below.

'scuse the bump. Any thoughts on a single sized neck pup to go with the Crazy 8?

Don't know. Mine is paired with a Phat Cat.

I wonder how it would work with a Cool Rails?

Actually the idea of a Phat Cat isn't bad, I just don't know that it quite fits in with the look I have in mind - don't suppose you have any pictures do you?

Have it in my Alder MiM Strat (Maple neck/board), now I have one guitar that I prefer the way it plays and one that I LOVE the way it sounds, guess which is which...

EDIT: Sorry, just read you last post, well I've paired it with a DiMarzio Fast Track 1, it's ok but I'd like sth else.
If it has to be a SC sized bucker then if I were you I'd try the Lil' 59, MAYBE if I felt adventurous I would also try the Duckbucker and/or the Vintage Rails, if stack will do then the CS+ would be my first choice or the PA-STK1n for a more uniform look, can't really comment on true SCs but the SSL-1 or maybe the 5-2, although personally I prefer the SSL-1...

Had a question about this, could anyone tell me how a Crazy 8 would sound in a Alder neck-thru body with a maple neck, ebony fretboard, and a 24.75" scale neck? As blasphemous as it sounds, I wanted to see how this would sound in my Chuck Schuldiner Stealth.

Mine's in a poplar-bodied Strat with a Bill Lawrence L-280 in the middle and L-298 in the neck. It's my go-to #1 guitar, and the 8 is a big reason for that. It is a well-balanced, beefy tone with unbelievable clarity at high gain.

Whatever you go with, I highly recommend you put the G&L Legacy wiring in: Volume, Treble, Bass for the knobs. The Crazy 8 has plenty of lows, but if you turn the bass knob down it gets very PAF-ish.

i have a Jackson DKMGT with a Crazy 8 (2007) and a Jazz at the neck position (I had the JB - Jazz combo before). I also have it set up with 2 vol / 1 tone along with a .22 capacitor... I just can't seem to be able to dial the kind of tone I was expecting with this setup... Could it be the cap value? I don,t know... Anyway, I plan to rewire the whole thing with CTS Precision Tolerance pots and I'll try different value as for caps... I GOT to make this work... Anyone tried a Crazy 8 in a DKMG???
