GT6, ME-50, or a POD?

Which of these would be better?
I play mostly metal music so I'm looking for good quality high gain dist. but I would also like to have other good od's at my disposal.
I am also lookin for some good fx like chorus, flange, delay, phaser to spice up solos and wat not.

I just wanna know wat you guys recommend

The standard POD will get you a good Mesa Dual Rec sound, but not much else... all the Marshall amps are lacking in the gain department, and none of the overdrive units included will give you enough gain.

The story is much the same for the PODxt, except there was just released a free software upgrade (very simple to install if you have the internet) which adds a couple of heavy amps, increases the quality of all the current ones, and adds more gain to the marshall models.

So if you are going for a POD... buy an xt and get the upgrade.

The downside of the POD is that you would have to buy a pedal saparate if you were using it live... they are very expensive.

Don't know much about the other units...

GT-6 has the most options. ME-50 is an upgrade to the ME-33 which I have. I don't think it's much of an upgrade though. The POD is cool but if you already have an amp I wouldn't think you needed one.

I have the ME-50 and I've been pretty happy with it. It has 11 different distortion/overdrive settings that can be tweaked almost endlessly in real-time thanks to actual knobs, not menus and buttons that need to be preprogrammed. My primary concern when I bought it was a heavy, crunchy distortion. It's Boss DS-1 model offered that. Since then I bought a Fender Strat and I want more of the guitar's natural tone to come through. The milder overdrive and Marshall Governor models of the ME-50 delivered for me. And speaking of Strat's, the univibe effects are killer. Strat + ME-50 univibe = Killer Robin Trower tones on a budget!

Another thing I noticed is the ME-50 excels in a live situation. Not only are the real controls easy and intuitive, it's true sound and potential excels in a live mix. Sometimes playing alone I'm disappointed with the ME-50's lack of an EQ and bottom-end bass. But in a mix it really stands out and sounds great.

The POD is great for recording, not so great for live. The GT6 is essentially the same thing as the ME-50 with extra bells and whistles and much more complicated.

i havent played any of them except the GT 6, and it is jusr great, loads of great overdrives and all the effects plus more that you mentiond are great too..pretty east to get into using it too, my friend has one and i had it figured in a couple of minutes...Great piece of equip..

The GT-6 is (IMO) just as easy to use as the ME-50, but it is a big jump up in control, connectivity, and sound quality. Another plus is that with the GT-6, if your amp gives up the ghost at a gig, you can plug straight into the board and get throught the show. That's something the ME-50 won't do.

Ah yes thats also another great feature..That thing has Phono outs and everything..I'd proboly have one if i had the money right now..
