They wanted $2600 for a faded denim? That's highway robbery unless it's a "Private Stash" top, which is similar to PRS "Private Stock". I've seen them listed new on websites 6-8 months ago for $1600 with a case. I'll do a little checking, but even at "full street price", you should be able to get away at $1800 or so with leather case.

Glad you liked it.....they are very sweet playing guitars, and fortunately for me, still somewhat undiscovered.

What's the neck profile like? Describe to a Strat or LP, those are all I know.

I'll do my best. IMO it's between a thick 59' LP type neck, and the Slip 60's taper, but I'd have to say it's closer to the 60's neck. The thing is, it feels wider than the LP necks, even though they're both 12 degree radius's. Comfortable like a C shaped Strat, but beefier.

I love the hardtail...but I found the bridge pup to be oddly located (as in it got in the way of my picking hand). JeffH or Xerxes have this issue....or was I just sitting weird (you know how sometimes they just have those bar stools for you to sit on at the store).

The faded denim Dean Hardtail has to be one of the best looking guitars I think I've ever seen.

If I could have that finish on a superstrat I would be in heaven. Dean makes great guitars. My Chafin Del Sol will never replace my main guitar, but with Dimarzio Virtual PAFs, it rocks with alternative tunings to fill the other voids I need.

I loved the look of those Hardtails in Jeff's link! For $1200, I'd love to buy that one that's lurking around here now. I'm out of the guitar buying loop right now, and slap myself everytime I dream about buying another. I'm so deep into my current favorites, that I feel like I'm done.

I haven't found that to be the case. I haven't measured, but the spacing of the bridge pup from the bridge should be about the same as a LP. I usually rest my picking hand just in front of the saddles, mainly on the low E and A strings. It could have just been the angle at which you were setting. It's also possible that it is different from what you're used to, or that I have a different technique that compensates. I know that if the middle pup on a strat is too high, that really gets in my way.
