Default Sorry i this is the wrong forum but I need help quick with my strings.

I'm getting really frustrataed and PO'd at my first time of stringing my guitar and cleaning it. It took me 50 minutes to clean and string my guitar-and I'm not even done yet! I'm sooo close to finishing-One last string left- the low E. I strung it one time through the hole your suppose to string it to, and it won't come in for the second time like my other strings. Should I only put it through 1 time or somehow 2 times through the hole? And for my second q- can I cut off the leftovers of the strings that come out of the hole? Its annoying me...please someone help me fast!

I'm not sure what you mean by putting it through the hole more that one time? You are talking about the holes on the tuning keys on the headstock...correct? You should only run it through that hole once, leaving enough slack to make approximately 2 /12 to 3 wind around the post as you tighten the string to pitch. There are various ways of "locking" the string using different winding techniques, but I think we'd better keep it simple for now.

Post up a little more info on what you're doing, and we'll help you out.

This is annother good example of why locking tuners should be standard issue IMO, it makes string changes so quick and easy....for beginners and experts alike.

Yes, you can cut the leftovers. I usually leave about 1/2" and fold it over on itself (to eliminate snags).
