    No Quarter: Boxset CD. Yeah its a cover, but a damm good one, very arguably better than the original. Plus its a cover of our list's #2. so double boner bonus

    "Red Sector A" - Rush, from Grace Under Pressure

    I was tempted to drop a new one like "Driven" or "Earthshine" but I think the rockin stuff is covered by "La Villa..." and the more ambient, atmospheric stuff is taken care of by "Red Sector..." so I'm happy with my choices.

    #35 Robin Trower

    Daydream from his 1973 debut album Twice Removed From Yesterday. 1980 live version.
    Inspired by and an homage to Hendrix. Shades of Jimi can be heard in Trower's playing and he's constantly being compared to Hendrix. Although Robin cuts through much of the fuzz and effects Hendrix is known for and delivers a blues-based rock jam chock full of emotion and signature Strat tones. One might say his playing is more focused than Jimi's and, while definitely blues based, delivered in a rock style similar to Eric Claption's Cream arrangements.

    Some 35 years after his debut he still is making music in the same style, this time with another icon of the era. In contrast to the long jam Daydream, Seven Moons is a shorter, radio friendly song with a cool groove that instantly grows on you. Maybe not his best work but another solid blues-rock entry similar to much of his entire catalog.

    The other track was a harder one to choose, I could have taken Pictures Of Home or Lazy or Burn or Mistreated or Man on the Silver Mountain or Kill the King or Child In Time or Black Night or...
    But I'd say that Stargazer and Light in Black are the two ultimate Rainbow songs.

    I guess you meant that you could say that for any song pre-Down to Earth.
    For drummers, Cozy was the man (well not exactly for bluesy or moody or slow)
