The hellraiser is completely mahog, the tone zone will be muddy even when put into the bridge with all this mahog,i don't even wnat to think about what kind of mudslide it will give in the neck.
If you want something with great cleans, fat sound and not too modern for blues try the Air Norton. it's super fat but very articulate.

+2 for the Air Norton. For more metal tones a Super II works well with the X2N

+11 for the Air Norton....love mine...my guitar has a limba (korina) body, and although that wood doesn't have as many lows as it does low mids, it's still comparable, and in this guitar, the A.N. in the neck just sings.

I've always liked the Tone Zone as a bridge pickup, especially paired up with a Jazz neck. With an X2N, I really dig the Super 2 with it.

Mike Romeo from Symphony X does use an X2N with a Tone Zone in the neck on his guitars.

Dimarzios TECH TALK on each pickup is really accurate on the site if you ask me

Do not put it in the neck. The best high output neck model they have is the Air Norton, followed by the Air Zone

Yeah the hellraiser is a darker guitar even though it is 25.5" scale. I put a JB in the neck of my friend's and its good but not great. I had much better experience with the JB neck in a basswood super strat.

A screaming demon in the neck might work out well for the hellraiser.

I have a Tone Zone in an all mahogany guitar and it's no where near muddy. It is pretty bass-y but not muddy.

My favorite DiMarzio is a toss up between the Tone Zone and the PAF Pro. I have an alder guitar with a Tone Zone/Air Zone combo that I really like, and when the next string change comes around, I will drop a TZ in my basswood PGM.

This is just my opinion but i don't think you could come up with a worst combo than the X2N/Tone Zone, apart from maybe the Tone Zone/Duncan Invader.

For mahogany body & neck, i'd say go for 1 of the "Custom" series of pickups (preferably the C5 imo) & in the neck either the Distortion (paired with the Custom if you want a balls to the wall sound), the Jazz (my own fave in a mahogany geet) or the Pearly Gates (my 2nd fave of the 3 i mentioned.

In the bridge position of a mahogany guitar you need a really tight pickup so stay away from:

    Duncan JB
    Duncan Invader
    DiMarzio X2N
    DiMarzio Tone Zone
    DiMarzio D-Sonic
    DiMarzio PAF

    and go with 1 of:

    Duncan Custom 5
    Duncan Custom
    Duncan Distortion
    DiMarzio Evolution
    Bareknuckle Painkiller

In the neck position of a mahogany guitar, i think the following are well worth looking into:

Duncan Distortion (ONLY in combo with the Custom bridge IMHO)
    Duncan Jazz
    Duncan Full Shred
    Duncan Pearly Gates
    DiMarzio Evolution (neck, der. Lol)
    DiMarzio PAF Pro
    DiMarzio Air Norton

I have a TZ in the neck and it is NOT muddy except on clean. Cleans will blow but the solo tone is pure smooth.

It depends what your threshold of mud is, but in the BRIDGE position the TZ is definately 1 of the muddiest pickups around in a mahogany body & neck guitar.
