Default Anyone familiar with BG Pickups' HellaBucker?

They seem to be doing some interesting things for good prices, but the samples of the HellaBucker are not ideal for demonstrating it's powers (Peavey Classic 30?). How would it fare in a solid mahogany Les Paul Copy that seems to need pickups that have more high end?

Funny you should ask. I just got mine today and installed it in a ESP LTD EC-400 AT (les paul copy - mahagony/no maple top). I just got it done and baby is asleep so i can't crank it enough to tell you.

I'll have a chance to put it through the test in the morning through my traynor custom special 100 watt tube head and ear candy buzzbomb 2 x12 cab, and i'll let you know.

It's awesome and articulate for the high gain stuff....loved it for that. It can also sound good for medium gain stuff, but was outclassed by my Dimarzio PAF Classic in that area.

Into to Journey's "Stone in love", for example.....you could barely hear the E and A strings on the open G chord and barely hear the A and D strings on the open C chord. There are no adjustable pole pieces...they are all flat.

Now, jamming to Ozzy's "Miracle Man".....wow!!! It is fat sounding, but the E and A strings are not overpowering,......not muddy at all. Very articulate (d'addario .011's by the way...no pedals used). Cranked.....totally kicked ass over any pickup i've tried. Maybe it's just me, but it definately loves (needs?) to be cranked through a loud amp. Not lacking in highs either, nice sizzle, no earkill. Mine is an uncovered hellabucker.

Hope this helped. Bryan is a gentleman and awesome person to deal with!
