Default Is there a remote chance that this is a Gibson pickup?

I don't think this can possibly be a Gibson pickup. Sold to me as being from a 76 Explorer. I'd like to have a second opinion before I slam the seller.

The top looks like my full-expoxied 1980 Ttop, which is why I took the chance.

But I don't think Gibson did at any time produce pickups with unshielded wires coming out of them.

    Anybody with different thoughts?

Wires don't look right, and gibsons always have some kind of stamp/marking on them to my knowledge. Try the LP forum for the "final word"

"The" LP forum or MLP? "The" probably kills me to come in with an Asian piece of gear

My expoxied Gibson is stamped, true.

It might be that the original braided wire wore out and the owner cut the wire and replaced it with two separate leads.
In 1861 as the Confederate forces were about to fire on Fort Sumter, the blue and gray had infinitely more in common than the blue and red today. What fellowship can "the truth shall set you free" ever have with "there is no truth, only points of view", or "what is truth?"

Secession would be a horror. But barring a major national crisis like a Black Death magnitude epidemic or nuclear attack to erase once and for all the myth that truth is negotiable, it is coming.

57's have the PAF decal on the bottom, though they wear/tear off pretty quick.

And they have never been epoxied..to my knowledge anyways (57s).

I really don't think thats a Gibson pup. I had a 76 epxlorer. One of the original reissues. I never took the pups out, but they all had gold covers and hardware cos they were the natural korina-finish and there were a few ebony ones as well.

Epoxied...wrong covers...braid taken off and/or new leads...no markings. I dont think the chances are good.

The leads comeing out are two separate leads.

It is not a shortened and reconnected braided wire.

Also, the measurements are in. 6.15 Kohm, 3.17 H, 39.8 nF.

    My similar Ttop is T-top 7.50, 4.23, 34.0.

So there's no chance, I'm gonna hit the seller.

Kinda, but since I consider returning the guitar I didn't take it out yet. So I neither heard the pickup in a guitar I know now do I know what this Axe is about.

Over on LP forum people are in favor of "yes, Gibson was bad enough to release something like that, even with less than 6 Kohm".
