    Oh dear god...

The only 'numetal' band on that list is Slipknot. Hell, Satyricon is a fairly 'kvlt' blackmetal band, as much as I hate to use that classification.

I'm actually a bit offended that anyone, let alone two people on a forum I otherwise held in high regard would consider Opeth as nu-metal. There's more sophistication and musicality in that band than in any other metal band, nu or not, for all intents and purposes.

Sorry! I'm not that big into metal. I think Opeth is a fantastic band. Maybe even legendary.

Guys nu metal is that crap that was popular when I was in High school. 1997-2001.

Some of you keep naming Metalcore bands Numetal.

Metalcore is the new Numetal *snicker*

definitely stoner. I just call them Prog Metal since they change between thrash and doom but they're always progressive.

Sevendust, early Korn, early Godsmack....I still dig all of those. I digs me some metalcore, too.

Love Mudvayne, amazing rhythm section. Wouldn't really consider them nu, though. Oh well.

see, the überisks over the ü of nü-metal is key. I think the other mallcore metallers would be cool with being called that, it wasnt for the überisks

I like Disturbed just fine. No shame in that. They have a unique sound that you either like or you don't... I like it.

I like some early Korn, too. The late stuff is "meh" and I don't even have the last couple albums. Through school, and even still today, there is no better "production mode" soundtrack than any of the first few Korn albums. Mike + "Life is Peachy" + AutoCAD = fastest CAD operator ever. I wish I were joking.

I like Deftones, they are a bit more interesting texturally, and System of a Down didn't really sound like the rest of the herd either. Incubus' "Science" was sort of Nu Metal I guess, and that is a great album. Other than that, none of it really interested me.

I actually loved Slipknot's "Iowa" album - there's a cracking bit of stereo riffage on the song "Gently" *. Same with Limp Bizkit's "Chocolate Starfish". I liked Korn's "Issues" album, and DIsturbed.

But to be honest, I never listen to any of it any more. Not saying I outgrew it, as I was well into my twenties when I started listening to it - I just think it had no longevity.
Kids will be listening to AC/DC and Iron Maiden 40 years from now. They won't be listening to Slipknot or Limp Bizkit. The songs just aren't there although they were fun at the time.

Haha that's great. Mine is Slayer or Pantera for when I need to lay down some serious 3D Catia or 2D Caelum CAD.

Of course since he's a Dee-troit redneck, I'm a fan of Kid Rock. I think Cowboy was a brilliantly funny song, and who else can you the lyric 'For D.B. Cooper and the money he took'?

Devil Without a Cause is the premier rap-rock album of the era. (Of course, that kind of reminds you of the special olympics joke, even if you win... )
