When I recently had my tiny 20" TV die on me, I decided to go out and get a new HDTV with a built in digital and analog tuner. I bought a 26" vizio and I've been very happy with it. One thing that caused problems is that the Vizio isn't as sensitive as my old set was and picked up fewer channels than before. I would have to buy a new antenna to replace my rusty antenna along with adding some RG6 quad-shielded cable (50' of it) to transmit my signals through the wire with minimum interference. I researched the transmitters in my area and found that I'm in an area of low signal strength and would need a fairly powerful antenna to do the job adequately. I also contacted Denny at the link below and he helped me out with a suggestion for an antenna plus a booster that would do the job for me. I now pick up signals from as far as 115 miles away and the local stuff is very clear on my set. Denny wildly exceeded my expectations with the antenna linked below plus a winegard 8700 booster. I get four HD channels now instead of one and I have 25 total digital stations instead of 5. So for $200 including the shorter extra cables I bought, I now have adequate local TV (some in HD and many other digital channels) for a change and I won't have to face a monthly bill for a ton of channels I won't be watching anyway. If you are on a tight budget like me, (not so tight when it comes to cool amps) this is not a bad way to go.

BTW - So called HD antennas usually are no different than standard antennas. You don't need a special antenna to pick up HD signals. You just need one that works. Mine is the meanest thing Winegard makes and it sure does pick up well. It looks like it will take flight, but it works very well.
