Blackout Caps?? Whats the deal?

Hey guys, I installed my first set of actives a couple weeks back and wanted to ask this but never got around to it:

The Blackouts came with .1k caps, but after reading a couple threads, and looking at the actual diagram that came w/ the pu's I put .047's in the axe, cause it seems like there was a change in SD's recommendation and thats the way to do it now.

But...it seems like w/ the .047s theres hard any diff at all w/ the tone knob rolled back?? Is this something thats kinda normal w/ actives, or should I put the .1's in and try it? Cause when i roll the tone back on my axes i like to hear a nice "rolled back tone" sound.

Blackouts are all supplied with .47 caps now, and have been for awhile. If you need a capacitor you can call Customer Service and tell them I told them to send you one for free. They're also at any Radio Shack type store too. But yes to clear the confusion the .47 does the most "damage." The .1 we sent works too, but it's too mild for most people.

yeah, there's an order of magnitude problem here. 47nF is passive guitar country. For actives you need something in the hundreds of nF region.

No they come with the recommended .47, because that's what's right for most people. It's got nothing to do with Radio Shack. I was just telling you that you can buy one at RS if you need one right away. If .047 was on a diagram, it was an extremely short-lived typo. (which we appologize for) It's not on the website schematics currently.

okay, thats what confused me, there is a diff/ b/t ".047" and ".47" cause some people type all of them the same way.

so that means the .047 ones i have in there are even way less than the .1 that came w/ it, and i'm after the .47. that makes much more sense. thanks frank

I got the .1k caps with my Blackouts too. I thought that was messed up. I just bought a control set from EMG and hopefully it comes with the .47's. Oh and my schematic also says .047.

Yes. I'm fairly certain mine came with 0.47s. You can kick me in the tadger once or twice if I'm wrong.
